Cleaner

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, and humanitarian mine action. DRC has implemented projects in Central Darfur, South Kordofan, Gedaref, Port Sudan, and White Nile. Sudan hosts one of the largest displaced populations in Africa, with over 3.7 million internally displaced people and over 1.1 million refugees from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Central African Republic, Chad, Yemen and Syria. Against a background of political crisis, Sudan faces economic and social turmoil, with sharp increases in food and energy costs, further exacerbated by disease outbreaks and ongoing conflict.

POSITION PROFILE

Overall purpose of the role:

The purpose of the job is to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized environment, ensuring proper hygiene and a comfortable space for employees to work efficiently

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sweep the floors and stairs every morning ensuring no damage to electrical equipment on the floor such as UPS, electrical wire etc. This cleaning task must be completed by 7:45 am.
  • Wash the floors, stairs, and other areas thoroughly at least twice a week.
  • Conduct deep cleaning once in a month.
  • Dust the desks, walls and cupboards every day (taking care not to damage office equipment on the dusted areas).
  • Clean the office sinks, toilets, and washrooms once a day.
  • Clear and dispose of the rubbish from the office at least once a day. Ensure fresh bins during the start of the day.
  • Always keep the kitchen clean, including cleaning the inside of the fridge once per week.
  • Maintain the garden areas around the office, keep the outside washroom/ toilet clean.
  • Ensure the hammam area is clean. (The space where people do wadu).
  • Inform the line manager of any repairs or replacements required of maintenance equipment.
  • Clean the guest house (vacuuming, washing floors, sweeping, clean kitchen, bathroom, etc.) as requested. (Applicable for GH cleaners).
  • Complete all cleaning according to the cleaning check list.
  • Inform the line manager about the need for cleaning items in advance (e.g., cleaning fluid, garbage bags, soap, toilet paper, etc.).
  • Make tea or coffee for official meetings/ occasions as requested.
  • Visit washrooms/ toilet every 2 hours to ensure the cleanliness and availability of tissues, hand wash etc.
  • Clean the dishes and kitchen utensils properly.
  • Extend support to Cook whenever requested.

Give a round walk to the whole office every hour to ensure cleanliness
