You have:
- Master’s Degree or PhD in International Politics, Public Policy, Conflict Resolution, Gender, Communications or a related field.
- Prior work experience in international development, civic engagement, peacebuilding and related sectors.
- Familiarity with the peacebuilding, humanitarian and international development sectors necessary, field-based experience ideal (added advantage).
- Experience conducting interviews and document analysis.
- Experience in conducting studies and writing reports that clearly connect research, practice, and policy.
- Strong oral and written communications skills (English is necessary, Arabic is desirable).

The IRC Governance Technical Unit focuses on ensuring that people have the power to influence the decisions that affect their lives. We work to strengthen the voices of the community and to help the IRC, governments, and other organizations be more responsive to their needs. Governance programming cuts across several IRC sectors, and utilizes approaches like Women’s Political Participation, Peacebuilding, Local Partnerships, Inclusive City Planning, Participatory Decision-Making, Social Accountability and Service Delivery System Strengthening to achieve its aims.
Responsibilities/Projects
The consultant will explore the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda and within it identify signature IRC tools, approaches, and projects. As part of this work, the consultant will a develop short report on what has been done, how was it done, what needs to be done, what is the current and potential role of IRC in this space, how to achieve this role, what is the nature of collaboration, capacity strengthening, what networking may be needed, and where the WPS agenda is heading. As part of this work, the consultant will map out IRC country programs that have worked on the WPS agenda and conduct key informant interviews.
Deliverables
- A report, no longer than 25 pages. - A slide deck highlighting key findings.
