Overview

Provide technical support for child protection preparedness in humanitarian action.

You have:

  • Advanced university degree in social work, international relations, law, child psychology, or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with UNICEF and/or other relevant actors, including experience with child protection, child protection in humanitarian action.
  • Knowledge of UNICEF’s core commitments to children in humanitarian action and the humanitarian cluster approach.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written).

Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree in social work, international relations, law, child psychology, or relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with UNICEF and/or other relevant actors, including experience with child protection, child protection in humanitarian action
  • Knowledge of UNICEF’s core commitments to children in humanitarian action as well as the humanitarian cluster approach.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

  • Technical support for preparedness to all countries in the region, in line with UNICEF’s CCCs for child protection
  • Strengthen and assure the quality of child protection emergency preparedness, contingency plans (natural disasters, public health emergencies, sociopolitical and migration crisis preparedness). This should include the humanitarian planification and the information management for data collection, process and analysis.
  • In collaboration with the Child Protection colleagues in Country Offices, support the integration of CPHA preparedness in national’s plans/institutions.
  • Organize and implement capacity building strategy to enhance UNICEF child protection national officers capacity in relation to child protection in emergencies.
  • Collaborate in the development of a program package on armed violence for the region.
