Consultant to be paid monthly under submission of a monthly report due on the 25th of each month with updates describing their contribution to the achievement of key activities described in this Terms of Reference.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:-

Education and Experience

• An advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, social work, international law or other social science or
• A Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of field experience with increasing responsibility is required.
• At least eight years of relevant experience at national and international levels in child protection.
• Experience developing VAC and parenting programmes
• Advance knowledge of one or more of the technical areas of UNICEF child protection programmes
• Fluency in written and spoken English

Expenses related to these travels will be covered as per UNICEF travel rules and regulations.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if work/outputs is incomplete, not delivered or for failure to meet deadlines and completion of all mandatory trainings. Performance indicators against which the satisfactory conclusion of this contract will be assessed include: timeliness/quality of submission and responsiveness to UNICEF and counterpart feedback.

PROPERTY RIGHTS:

UNICEF shall hold all property rights, such as copyright, patents and registered trademarks, on matter directly related to, or derived from, the work carried out through this contract with UNICEF.

Consultants and Individual Contractors must complete the following course before commencement of any travel on behalf of UNICEF.

Individuals will be required to complete mandatory trainings after being awarded the consultancy and will be required to complete mandatory trainings, sign and submit key documentation and provide proof of health insurance before signing the contract to commence services.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.

Insurance: The selected consultant must demonstrate a proof of medical/health insurance prior to the beginning of the consultancy and must be valid for the entire duration of the contract. In duty stations where UNICEF provides medical evacuation, the medical insurance that the contractor holds should include provisions for medical evacuation.
