You have:
- A university degree in Law, international law, international relations, human rights, or another relevant social science field is required.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in planning and management in child protection related areas is required.
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- Working knowledge of English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset.
- Relevant experience in planning and monitoring of projects related to child victims, children in conflict with the law, children who have lost parental care, migrants’ children or children in other vulnerable situations is an asset.
- Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
Contract

The Child Protection Officer reports to the Child Protection Specialist for supervision. The Child Protection Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programmes/projects within the Country Programme from development planning to delivery of results. He/She prepares, executes, manages, and implements a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting.

Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Law, international law, international relations, human rights, or another relevant social science field. Postgraduate degree or Specialization in Human’s Rights, Children’s Rights and/ or Public Policies is an asset.
Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in planning and management in child protection related areas is required.
Relevant experience in the following areas of expertise is an asset:
• planning and monitoring of projects with internal and external partners related to child victims, children in conflict with the law, children who have lost parental care, migrants’ children or children in other vulnerable situations. • planning and monitoring of strategies for working with the judiciary to promote interventions respectful of the rights of children and adolescents. • generation of evidence and strengthen data collection on the situation of child protection and child access to justice, and • measurement to assess/strengthen performance accountability, coherence and delivery of concrete and sustainable results for the assigned sector in child protection programmes.
Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset. Planning and/or collaborating with internal and external partners to establish monitoring benchmarks, performance indicators and other UNICEF/UN system indicators is considered an asset.
Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish is required. Working knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset.
