How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Officer (NO-2) handling Child Online Protection for SaferKidsPH, the Child Protection Officer (NO-1) post will support efforts towards prevention and response to violence against children, and with emphasis on strengthening strategies on child online protection, noting that a significant part of violence prevention and response efforts are on online and digital platforms.

The post is accountable for developing, managing, coordinating, networking, implementing, disseminating and monitoring SKPH Public Advocacy plan and activities, building on and advancing current efforts and achievements. Develop and update messages, products and assets for wider dissemination nationally and internationally as appropriate. Strive to promote awareness, understanding, support and respect for children’s and women’s rights. Help UNICEF’s position and visibility as the champion for children in the country office/regional office/media hub, and at a global level and those of the UN Country Team.

It will have the following Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Lead in the development of the SaferKidsPH Advocacy and Communication Plan -Year 2 and support in the implementation thereof.
• Coordinate and lead creative agency that will implement 2nd year SKPH Advocom plan, including the management of the SKPH Website and social media accounts.
• Work with communication and Child Protection sections to plan and accomplish advocacy priorities for the year and translate strategy into implementation and actions to keep children’s issues high on the public domain and visible on media’s agenda.
• Work on the implementation of the private sector engagement strategy and action plan of the SaferKidsPh programme.
• Lead in the development and implementation of the Youth Engagement Strategy.
• Help manage the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework of the SKPH.
• Support communications and programme needs of the Child Protection section with the end view of linking child online protection work of SKPH to the broader Violence Against Children Agenda.
• Work closely with Communications, PFP and CRB counterparts from within UNICEF and the SaferKidsPH Consortium agencies in the implementation and monitoring of the ADVCOM plan.
• Design public advocacy initiatives that are aligned with and to support resource mobilization as part of UNICEF Philippines private sector funding in-country within the larger framework of global resource mobilization
• Coordinate with SKPH partners including but not limited to the Child Rights Network, universities, government and other entities.
• Keep abreast of the global advocacy-communication priorities campaigns and partnerships UNICEF Philippines works with. Plan observance and implementation of key global priorities in a relevant and locally-appropriate way.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• A *university degree in one of the following fields is required: communication research, journalism, mass communications, creative writing and public relations.

* Completion of secondary school and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in lieu of a university degree.

• Two (2) years professional experience in research, journalism, editorial, advocacy, organization communications, and creative writing and PR; public affairs; and marketing communications, particularly handling events.
• Previous work in project management in development is an advantage
• Familiarity with UNICEF work is desired.
• Experience coordinating among different government agencies and international as well as national partners preferred.
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English and Filipino
• Demonstrable work in Social Media a must.
• Demonstrated experience in creatives and digital platforms is an advantage
