Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Child Protection Manager:

  1. Assist the advancement of the child protection and adolescent agenda on ending child marriage (linked to WCARO Key Result for Children 6)
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and monitoring and reporting of joint work with UNFPA in collaboration with Government, civil society, academia
  • Provide support in the advancement of the draft National Strategy to End Child Marriage. Provide technical support in Operational Plan budgeting and costing exercises across sectors
  • Jointly with NGO partners and UNFPA support the implementation of the Adolescent Safe Spaces in the areas of intervention and coordinate with Health, Education and Social Protection Programmes at decentralised levels for girls at-risk/affected by child marriage and their households
  • support evidence-based/knowledge management around child marriage/GBV trends in Mali and what works to address it
  • support cross-sectoral coordination to operationalise gender and adolescent empowerment programming within the Child Protection Programme and the adolescent pillar
  • support the implementation of NGOs partners for the delivery of adolescent skills programmes, community engagements and CP/GBV service delivery
  • contribute to programme reports and proposals

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Master degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

An advanced university degree in gender and development, psychology, sociology, public health, international law, adolescent/youth development is required

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • 2 years of work experience in gender programmes and/or child protection programmes, at the national and/or international level some of which preferably were served in a developing country is required. Experience in working on programmes to end child marriage will be an asset.
  • Ability to contribute and advance innovative approaches and insights
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment

Language skills:

  • French(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

Area of expertise:

Other emergency management experience
