Across the globe, violence against children affects up to one billion children annually and has significant lasting effects that threaten children’s well-being and may persist into adulthood. However, much of this violence is preventable through programs that address root causes and risk factors. Harmful social norms can create a climate in which violence is either encouraged or normalized; to prevent violence against children, adolescents, families and communities must be encouraged to replace harmful norms with non-violent and respective norms and values that encourage positive and gender equitable relationships for all children and adolescents.

The Government of Indonesia has made child protection a priority in its national development plan. UNICEF Indonesia is supporting the Government of Indonesia to address violence through a number of evidence-based programmes in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDG 5 and 16. In order to ensure that these SDGs are achieved by 2030, the government will need timely access to evidence and data to inform programmes as well as to monitor and evaluate progress. In addition, strong knowledge management to ensure documentation and sharing of good practices and lessons learned as well as to raise the visibility of these programmes at national and sub-national levels is crucial. Finally, communicating results to the public through social media and other channels will support the successfully implementation of child protection programmes.

Under the supervision of the Chief Child Protection, Jakarta, the Child Protection Officer- Knowledge Management provides professional research, data analysis, knowledge management and communication support while learning organizational rules, regulations and procedures to support the development and implementation of the Child Protection Programme within the new Country Programme 2021-2026.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Chief Child Protection, or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Child Protection Knowledge Management Officer will:

Knowledge Management

 Support the development of communication materials including infographics, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, blogposts and case studies on child protection programmes, as requested in both English and Bahasa Indonesia, and support the design process and Publication Review.  Represent the Child Protection Cluster in meetings with Government and civil society partners and share minutes of meetings in order to ensure up-to-date understanding of relevant government programmes and priorities.  Update Sharepoint and other internal file management systems.  Maintain a catalogue of and develop summary of relevant legislations and policies related to child protection.  Support documentation on child protection COVID-19 responses and lessons learned.  Support in building and maintaining regular programme monitoring and performance data through regular data collection and development of M&E tools (RAM, SMQs, HPM, Sitrep)

Data analysis

 Support tracking and monitoring SDGs related to child protection.  Provide support to generating and analyzing child protection data and statistics.  Engage and support in the research related to child protection programme implementation, including but not limited to prevention of child marriage, response to violence against children, parenting, and civil registration programmes.  Explore and suggest ways of capturing child protection issues trending in social media and other methods to analyze big data

Communication and social media

 Engage in reviewing social media posts and support Child Protection social media engagement, including U-report.  Support the development of human-interest stories and relevant data for donor reporting.  Draft articles of UNICEF Indonesia Child Protection activities for global child protection bulletin.

Other  Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Results/expected outputs:

As an active UNICEF Child Protection team member, the UNV is expected to provide efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support to accomplish the following: o Generate knowledge management products to communicate information about UNICEF Indonesia Child Protection programme. o Produce and analyze social media contents related to child protection. o Conduct data analysis on child protection issues (including SDG data) based on big data analytic, household surveys and other administrative data. o Update catalogue and summary of relevant Indonesian legislation and research. o Update Child Protection folders and programmatic files, including organizing sharepoint. o Prepare, share and upload relevant minutes of meeting o Support in building and maintaining regular programme monitoring and performance data through regular data collection and development of M&E tools (RAM, SMQs, HPM, Sitrep)

 At least one (1) year of work experience in programme development and implementation with non-profit organizations.  Experience working on child protection issues and/or with youth organizations is desirable.  Experience in working with social media, big data and data visualization.  Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development.  Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.  Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.

The position will be based in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, where basic living needs, including accommodation, banking facilities, medical facilities and telecommunications/internet services are readily available. All staple foods can be found in the markets, e.g.: rice, meat, vegetables, fruit, cooking oil, salt, etc.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.

-National UN Volunteer Specialist receives approximately IDR 8,237,403.08 as Monthly Living Allowance. -Provided with assignment travel cost and entry lumpsum if applicable. -Enrolled in health, life, disability insurance. -Applicable dependents (primary family unit, up to 3) are eligible for health insurance. -Entitled to annual leave, 2.5 days per month. -Provided with exit lumpsum to support transition at the end of assignment.
