Job Description

CP caseworker

Duty station: Dnipro

Key working relationships:

- Position Reports to: CP Sn Officer, Ukraine - Position directly supervises: N/A

- Internal collaborations within IRC: Women’s Protection and Empowerment team; Protection team; Economic Recovery and Development team; Health team. - External collaborations to IRC: CP actors, organizations and agencies

The Child Protection (CP) case worker will provide direct support and case management to at-risk children and their families, specifically the CP case worker will be responsible for:

- Reinforce adherence to the CP guiding principles throughout all activities with children and their families. This includes ensuring informed consent/assent and the best interest of the child.

- Participate and support the identification of children harmed or at-risk of harm and provide individual case management in accordance with all case management steps and principles, such as:

o Conduct initial assessments of CP cases and prioritize based on risk level

o Conduct comprehensive assessments of CP cases

o Develop case management plans that address the needs identified in the initial and comprehensive assessments of CP cases, and seek support from the supervisor as needed

o Provide basic counselling and psychosocial support

o Refer and accompany children in need to more specialized services

o Follow up regularly to ensure that all services and action items listed in the case plan are implemented within the agreed upon time frame. Ensure that progress is regularly reviewed.

o Regularly monitor and support children and their families through visits, emotional support, counseling, referrals, etc.

- Work in close, daily collaboration with the IRC sectors to ensure children and their families have discrete and confidential access to services via the internal referral procedures

- Work with the CP team to ensure the response to the evolving needs of children and their families

- Identify concerns related to and support adherence to CP referral protocols and CP guiding principles, and bring these concerns to the CP Sn Officer

- Maintain effective working relationships with relevant partners, including community leaders and other implementing partners

- Complete monthly activity reports, according to the mentorship provided by the CP Officer

Requirements:

- Language: Ukrainian required; if possible, English

- Technical diploma or degree in social work, human rights, or related degree preferred

- Minimum of 1 year experience of implementing child protection programs, preferable social work or case management, in humanitarian or development settings

- Experience with provide direct support (basic counselling, case management, PSS) with children and their families

- Previous experience and demonstrated understanding of working with children, particularly vulnerable children

- Support distributions of risk reduction items (inc. PSS kits) and follow-on monitoring

- Excellent communication skills

- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients/beneficiaries

- Positive and professional attitude, including ability to lead and work well in a team setting

- Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel
