You have:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in child participation, advocacy or related area.
- Experience working with youth and children's organizations or networks.
- Strong understanding of UK government policies related to child participation.
- Proven ability to engage with multiple stakeholders including government and NGOs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Salary £36,576-£38500
Location: Milton Keynes or London
Contract: Full time-36.5 Hours per week

The Child Participation and External Engagement Advisor is responsible for shaping child and youth engagement at World Vision UK, including leading the Youth Advocacy Network and ensuring young people’s views and voices are at the heart of everything WVUK does internally and in external engagement. Child participation comprises 60% of the role, with the remaining 40% playing an important role in maintaining and expanding WVUK’s reputation with peers and the UK government through external engagement in one or more key priority areas.
Child Participation (60%): This Advisor oversees the recruitment, safeguarding, capacity building, annual plans and engagement of the WVUK Youth Advocacy Network and promoting child participation as a policy area. The postholder ensures all processes - including defining priorities, capacity building needs and products, are youth-led. They promote meaningful participation of young people in influencing strategic internal operations and decision making, as well as in external initiatives. This may include policy advocacy with the UK Government/FCDO, speaking with donor/supporters through various forums, events and other engagements, and linking with other organisations and young people-led groups, in alignment with child participation best practice.
External Engagement (40%): The postholder will work with the Head of to develop messaging and represent WVUK in key internal and external networks and support specific advocacy and relationships within FCDO in an area to be determined. They will further support WVUK’s external engagement by monitoring political intelligence relevant to that priority area.
This position has a direct relationship with the members of the WVUK strategic leadership team (SLT) and the Board of Trustees, with regards to reporting and decisions to deliver WVUK accountability to safe, equitable and quality child and young people’s participation.
