Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the UNICEF Child Protection Specialist, with daily oversight and technical guidance from the Child Protection Officer and in coordination with the UNICEF Emergency Coordinator – Migrant Response, the UNV CFS Coordinator will ensure the imple-mentation of the UNICEF CFS Standard Operating Procedures in all UNICEF-supported CFS, and support the systematic coordination of CFS programming provided across all other iden-tified spaces in Trinidad and Tobago. The CFS Coordinator will also support CFS implementing partners in the operationalisation of PSEA policy and procedures. The UNV Child Friendly Spaces Coordinator will: 1. Through periodic site visits, monitor the operation of CFS in accordance with the CFS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safeguarding standards. 2. Conduct training, orientation, support and mentoring for facilitators on setting up and man-aging a CFS, PSEA, and other Child Protection strategies, and support denominational school boards to institutionalise PSEA. 3. Promote cooperation and continuous sharing of information, materials, tools and lessons learnt amongst implementing partners of all CFS. 4. Screen for and monitor protection needs and gaps in and around CFS and identify protec-tion gaps that may have a significant impact when children transition to denominationalschools. Report child protection issues and respond in accordance with the Child Pro-tection Case Management SOPs, where applicable. 5. Channel any reports of SEA allegations and related information and coordinate the re-sponse according to relevant procedures. 6. Coordinate the monitoring of referrals within CFS and support the referrals to services out-side the CFS, including referrals for children’s integration in denominational schools, to relevant denominational school boards. 7. Support a repository of CFS data and prepare monthly quantitative and qualitative CFS reports. 8. Organise and co-chair the CFS Coordination meetings and ensure that minutes of the meeting are drafted and circulated. 9. Advise management of community-based CFS implementing organisations on PSEA poli-cies and practices.. 10.Monitor PSEA-related aspects of staffing and recruitment at CFSs, including coaching of CFS implementing partners to ensure that all personnel sign the code of conduct and that screening for past SEA violations is a regular part of their recruitment process. 11. Facilitate awareness-raising campaigns with beneficiaries and local communities on the definition of SEA, the standards of conduct expected of personnel, and the various mech-anisms for raising SEA allegations or concerns, including contact details. 12. Coordinate PSEA activities with relevant organizations, including inter-agency initiatives, as appropriate and support organisations in implementing other PSEA-related activities, as appropriate. This may include denominational school boards. 13. Support community-based CFS organisations to refer complaints of SEA survivors for im-mediate, professional assistance and further investigations by the national authorities.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

University degree in Social Work, Child Psychology, or other relevant field

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • • A minimum of 2 years of experience within international organization, NGO and/or government environment in Child Protection and/or Social work, with demonstrated experiences in child protection programming.
  • • Professional experience in child protection in emergencies,
  • • Ability to establish excellent working relations and partnerships with community-based organizations.
  • • Demonstrated experience of working directly civil society organizations and with local communities.
  • • Ability to organize and facilitate training aimed to building capacity of colleagues and partners.
  • • Demonstrated sensitivity and knowledge of cultural and gender issues; experi-ence in GBV programming is preferred.
  • • Knowledge of key international standards and guidelines related to child protection in emergencies, including knowledge of the institutions of the UN system.
  • • Experience working in emergency or migration context is highly desirable.
  • • Good teamplayer and communication skills.

Upon appointment, the focal point will undergo organization-specific training on PSEA, as soon as feasible.
