Manage and supervise child protection programs to safeguard children's rights in Guinea.
You have:
- An advanced university degree in one of the following fields: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field.
- A minimum of eight years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas, at the international level, is required.
- Fluency in French and English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
- Relevant experience in program development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
- Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.
- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is an asset.
- Experience in implementing child protection programs related to harmful practices, access to justice, CRVS is an asset.
Contract
This is a P-4 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 7 years of experience, depending on education.
Salary
The salary for this job should be between 130,997 USD and 168,893 USD.

The international rate of 90,970 USD, with an additional 44% (post adjustment) at this the location, applies. Since 1984, UNICEF has collaborated with other UN agencies, nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations, youth organizations, and other partners to support the government in its efforts to support child development. The 2024-2028 country program includes interventions across education, protection, health, nutrition, water and sanitation, and social policy programs. How can you make a difference****?
Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Representative The Chief Child Protection is responsible for managing and supervising all stages of child protection programmes/projects from strategic planning and formulation to delivery of concrete and sustainable contributions to national and international efforts to create a protective environment for children against all harm and to protect their rights to survival, development and well-being, as established under the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the African Charter on the Rights of the Welfare of the Child, international treaties/frameworks and UN intergovernmental bodies.
The Chief is responsible for establishing the plans of action and overseeing work progress to ensure the achievement of concrete and sustainable programme/project results according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM) and UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance and accountability framework.
The incumbent will directly supervise 1 Child Protection Specialist (NOC), 1 Child Protection Officer (NOB) and 1 Programme Assistant (GS5). He/ she will also technically supervise three Child Protection Officer NOB based in the field offices.
