Duties and Responsibilities

This position is located within the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation and Security Governance Programme in Turin, Italy. The internship is for an initial period of two (2) months, and should start as soon as possible. The Internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the programme, project or unit to which they are assigned. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Programme Officer. Duties may include, but are not limited to: −Assist in data collection in the area of CBRN capability building as well as in the area of disinformation − Conduct research and provide analysis on relevant issues on CBRN risk mitigation as well as on CBRN disinformation. −Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations etc. −Support implementation of projects. −Assist in maintaining databases. −Assist in drafting and preparing official documents. −Support organization of meetings and conferences. −Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications/special skills

For the advertised post, the required fields of education are: crime prevention; international relations; international law; security studies; communication or a similar related field. Additionally, applicants shall: − Be computer literate in standard software applications; − Have a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; − Have ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views; Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language (preferably Arabic, Russian and/or French) is an asset.
