You have:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Communication, Environmental Management, or related fields is required.
- A minimum of two years of work with Web Content publishing and information management, is required.
- Experience with web and social media standard practices, such as content creation, technical aspects of page design and publication, platform governance, and analytics, as well as experience with the migration of content between different platforms is required.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Knowledge of the following applications is required: Prezi, Keynote, Google Slide, Adobe creative tools related to publishing, video production including capturing footage and processing this with editing software, Drupal 8 and similar content management packages.
- One year of experience within the UN Common System is desirable.
- Knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Weibo, SnapChat is desirable.
- Training in web writing and publishing is desirable.
- Knowledge of social media platform analytics packages and Meltwater monitoring tools is also desirable.
Result of Service Under the overall supervision of the Information Officer, the consultant will support the web migration to the new CBD platform, contribute to the strategic partnerships online stream of work, and provide general outreach web support.
Work Location Remote-Home-Based
Expected duration Eight (8) months.
Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Environment Programme is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. At the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, world leaders agreed on a comprehensive strategy for 'sustainable development'. The Convention on Biological Diversity was opened for signature in Rio in 1992. The Convention has three main objectives: the conservation of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components, and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the use of genetic resources. The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) is located in Montreal and is administered by United Nations Environment Programme. Its main tasks are to arrange for and service meetings of the Conference of the Parties, including preparation of pertinent documentation, operation of the central node of the clearing-house mechanism, liaison and coordination with other international bodies and processes and, in close collaboration with these partners, the provision of technical support for the effective implementation of the Convention.
Duties and responsibilities:
The Consultant will work under the supervision of the Information Officer, Communication and awareness Unit, Office of the Executive Secretary. For some tasks, approval of content will come directly from the office of the Executive Secretary. He/she will perform the following duties:
- Provide advice, organize and edit web content with a focus on those pages enabled to use the Drupal content management software. - Work with staff to create new content for the website, as needed, according to the approved structure, including original audio-visual content and info-graphs. - Drafting and publishing of original web content. - Planning, prioritizing and scheduling content updates and releases around key events, including reacting to time-sensitive needs for content. - Liaising with staff on social media dissemination of content. - Working with staff on the design and implementation of new webpages and/or templates. - Subject to availability of resources and further development of web infrastructure, migrate web content from the current CBD website to the new web platform. - Identify problems related to the website, and undertake appropriate corrective actions, either directly, or through requests to relevant staff members. - Carry out regular analytics on website traffic. - Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor.

Planning and Organizing: Ability to identify priorities, work to tight deadlines, handle concurrent projects and coordinate with the work of others.
Client Orientation: Establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect, identifies clients' needs and matches them to appropriate solutions, monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients' environment to keep informed and anticipate problems.

Academic Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Communication, Environmental Management, or related fields is required. Training in web writing and publishing is desirable
Experience: A minimum of two years of work with Web Content publishing and information management, is required. One year of experience within the UN Common System is desirable. Experience with web and social media standard practices, such as content creation, technical aspects of page design and publication, platform governance, and analytics, as well as experience with the migration of content between different platforms is required. Experience in creating graphical content and in visual content production is also desirable.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is desirable.
