DRC Syria

DRC has been actively operating in Syria since 2008 mainly supporting refugees. In June 2012, DRC was authorized by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to expand its humanitarian efforts and provide assistance to IDPs and the vulnerable resident population countrywide. Since then, DRC activities have been focused on NFI distributions, Shelter, WASH, Protection, Education, Livelihoods, and Mine Risk Education in six Governorates (Damascus, Rural Damascus, Dara'a, Aleppo, Hama, and Homs). While Protection/community service activities are provided to beneficiaries throughout our six Community Centers.

About the job:

The casual worker will assist in cash-based activities for Shelter and Settlement department as part of DRC’s Emergency Response in Aleppo

Responsibilities:

  • Support cash-based programming, operational arrangements and procedures based on existing standard operating procedures, mainly during the registration process.
  • To actively engage in the beneficiary selection process under the guidance of the line manager and team
  • Support assessments, registration, and verification exercises of project beneficiaries to proceed with a proper registration in Sigma and/or Kobo.
  • Support the facilitation and implementation of beneficiary registration process of multi-purpose cash assistance programme.
  • Support all monitoring activities are documented, including systematic and timely data collection as required.

  • Support the establishment of standardized data management, data sharing and data protection arrangements.

  • Contribute to the production of quality and timely reports on program activities, mainly during the registration process (Provide on regular basis).
  • Provide weekly updates to the SHE Team Leader and team, including accurate figures of people registered, distributions/referrals done, and challenges encountered, in the agreed format.
  • Ensure beneficiary data integrity and a transparent distribution exercise.
  • Support mobilization of communities for the successful registration of people of concern, implementation of project activities and ensuring a good working relationship with field staff and local community.

  • Supervision of cash monthly distribution at the centers of the financial service provider. if required.

  • Support the appropriate feedback and complaints channels are present in project sites and support F-CRM team to regularly conduct sensitization of Economic Recovery beneficiaries on the DRC’s FCRM mechanisms.
  • Maintain respectful and constructive relations with partner organizations, local authorities, and humanitarian actors.
  • Attend field level meetings when required and providing detailed reports to the Line Manager.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Experience and technical competencies

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels.

  • Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and capability to work in insecure environment.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office applications skills (Excel, Word, Power point, Emails, Skype, Web researchers).
  • Excellent communication skills, calm, with a good sense of working in inter-cultural environment.
  • Highly diplomatic and emotionally intelligent with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and results orientated.

Education

University or technical institute degree in any of the Economics, Administration, Business Management, Finance, International Relations, Development studies, computer science or other degree with years of relevant experience.

Languages

  • Fluent in Arabic- written and spoken is essential.
  • Good written English skills.
  • Fluent spoken English is preferred but not essential.
