This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Programme Officer, or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV, Cash-Based Interventions (CBI) Assistant will:

  • Assist in maintenance of CBI payment records and monitoring systems to record and reconcile expenditures, balances, payments, statements and other data for day-to-day transactions and reports.
  • Assist in preparation of recurring reports as scheduled and special reports as required.
  • Assist in monitoring the implementation of the UNHCR CBIs including the delivery of all assistance item, monitoring of infrastructure, completion of home visits, etc.
  • Export and manage data related to the cash assistance delivery to produce reports.
  • Ensure proper filing and record keeping.
  • Prepare background materials, working papers and tables for briefing and review sessions.
  • Asist in data collection and reporting activities.
  • Prepare routine correspondence.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

University degree (Bachelor’s) or equivalent in Business Administration, Law, Economics, Development, Social Science or related field.

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in the relevant area/programmes is an asset, such as experience working in the UN or other international development organization.

Language skills:

  • Spanish(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

Protection of refugees, asylum seekers and IDPs

Area of expertise details:

  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;

  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Sound security awareness;
  • Have affinity with or interest in UNHCR’s mandate, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Desirable qualifications/skills/job experience:

  • Knowledge of UNHCR programmes and activities.
  • Completion of UNHCR learning programmes or specific training relevant to functions of the position.
  • Experience in Cash-Based interventions.
  • Good working experience in MS/Excel, MS/Access, SQL.
