Overview

Support the career development component of the Frontier Tech Leaders Programme.

You have:

  • At least a Bachelor degree (or higher) in Social Sciences, Public Administration or STEM Areas
  • Completion of a Frontier Tech Leaders Bootcamp is desirable.
  • Knowledge and a proficient user of Microsoft Office productivity tools.
  • Interest and/or experience in online community platforms and apps like Whatsapp, Linkedin Group, Circle etc.
  • Fluency in English with excellent reading and writing skills is required.
  • Fluency in French and Arabic is desirable.
  • Plans and monitors own work, pays attention to details, delivers quality work by deadline
  • Be a pragmatic problem solver and proactive when faced with unexpected challenges.
  • Shows drive and motivation, able to deliver calmly in face of adversity, confident.
  • Demonstrates compassion/understanding towards others, forms positive relationships.
  • Appreciate/respect differences, aware of unconscious bias, confront discrimination.
  • Have an interest and motivation in working in an international organization.

UNDP ICPSD’s SDG AI Lab and UN Technology Bank for LDCs (UNTB) established the Frontier Tech Leaders (FTL) Programme to bridge the digital divide and contribute to the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In 2023 the Programme was officially launched as a global multistakeholder initiative during the 5th UN Conference on the LDCs in Doha, Qatar.  The Frontier Tech Leaders Programme will raise a new generation of tech specialists to strengthen local capacities and develop digital solutions for the LDCs towards achieving the SDGs. The Programme envisions a world where all LDCs have capacities to address development challenges using frontier technologies.

The Online Volunteer will support the career development component of the Frontier Tech Leaders (FTL) Programme. The volunteer will assist with beneficiary engagement, dissemination of career opportunities, coordination of virtual career support activities, and administrative support for programme delivery.

Through the support of the Online Volunteer, the FTL Programme aims to supports the career development of the young tech leaders benefiting from the Programme. The Programme provides 1-1 review sessions on LinkedIn profiles and CVs, mock interview, career mentorship and other supporting activities.

The FTL Career Support Volunteer is expected to support this dimension by providing administrative and logistical support to the Programme team and the career development expert assigned for this Programme.

Under this mandate, the volunteer is expected to:

  • Identify job, internship or other relevant opportunities for the beneficiaries and disseminate through the FTL LinkedIn Community Network Group and other relevant means in collaboration with Programme team and the career support development expert.
  • Schedule the meetings with the beneficiaries and career support development expert for the 1-1 CV & LinkedIn profile reviews, mock interview sessions, career mentor matchmaking and inspirational speakers events.
  • Draft brief communication materials, including emails, text messages and LinkedIn group messages, to support outreach, coordination and event organization.

Education:

  • At least a Bachelor degree (or higher) in Social Sciences, Public Administration or STEM Areas
  • Completion of a Frontier Tech Leaders Bootcamp is desirable.

IT skills:
