Job Description

Job Overview: The Career Pathways Specialist is a member of IRC Atlanta’s Economic Empowerment Department and is responsible for managing the provision of services to assist refugee clients to obtain self-sufficiency through vocational training, advanced work readiness training, skilled employment, and advancement within their chosen career field. Specifically, the Career Pathways Specialist ensures services including screening and assessment, career development plans, career enhancement services, employer development and cultivation, employment preparation, placement, and follow-up services.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Provide client outreach and workshops to prospective Career Pathways clients to advertise Career Pathway services in targeted high-demand industries. - Create and administer assessments and advanced work readiness training to eligible clients for targeted industry sectors. - Provide group and individualized technical assistance and job readiness training to provide clients with career entry and development opportunities in targeted industry sectors. - Determine specific employment opportunities appropriate to clients and providing individualized technical assistance in applying for courses of study and/or guiding them through the hiring process. - Assist clients with job search, job placement, and job retention support services post placement. - Monitor job placement performance, wage level, and employer/employee satisfaction. - Develop comprehensive career plans for eligible employable adults. - Develop and cultivate long-term relationships with metro-Atlanta area employer partners and vocational training partners. - Refer clients to and follow up with internal and external career center services, professional mentors, ESL classes, and childcare and/or transportation solutions. - Refer clients to in-house Financial Capabilities services as they navigate scholarships, education loans, and other education funds. - Satisfy recordkeeping and reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner. - Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area. - May train and lead the activities of volunteers and interns. - Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Undergraduate degree is highly preferred.

Work Experience:

- Relevant professional experience in human services field or related field required; minimum of 1-2 years’ experience strongly preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

- Demonstrated experience with the US job search process and the ability to coach clients effectively through the process of securing employment. - Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships. - Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment. - Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. - Attention to detail and accuracy in work product. - Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes. - Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle. - US work authorization required.

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. - Occasional domestic travel required; up to 10% - May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
