Overview

Provide career support through mentoring and coaching programs

You have:

  • Demonstrated experience in implementation of mentoring and coaching programmes, leadership development and career support preferably with experience in the humanitarian sector with field perspectives
  • Working experience with online platforms to facilitate mentoring, peer coaching and other collaborative learning
  • Experience in the UN system is desirable along with knowledge of the humanitarian operational context

Result of Service Expected Outcomes: - Mentoring and coaching is instituted into the organizational culture, enabling strengthened management and staff wellbeing - Career support is delivered including a focus on support to diversity and inclusion - Increased collaboration through mentoring with expanded networks that bring diverse perspectives to support talent growth for current and future careers

Duties and Responsibilities Background and context: Career support is recognized as an important priority under OCHA’s People Strategy including emphasis on coaching and mentoring and building diverse and inclusive networks across the organization. This includes a focus on all staff with priority to national staff, women and general service staff. it also addresses the need for management strengthening in providing career support to staff, to equip them with strategies, approaches and tools to effectively engage.

Since the launch of the People Strategy, increased investments are being made to career support and wider talent management. Building on OCHA’s work over the past year on developing strategies, framework, tools and activities, emphasis is now on rolling out career support services including the OCHA Career Cafes and scaling up mentoring approaches in OCHA. This includes building mentoring skills, group mentoring and peer coaching.

Qualifications/special skills To be advertised for one week - Demonstrated experience in implementation of mentoring and coaching programmes, leadership development and career support preferably with experience in the humanitarian sector with field perspectives; - Working experience with online platforms to facilitate mentoring, peer coaching and other collaborative learning/ - Experience in the UN system is desirable along with knowledge of the humanitarian operational context

Languages The consultancy will be for 20 days, spread over a period of 3 months between 20 December to March 2023.
