You have:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field; or equivalent years of work-related experience.
- At least two years of related professional experience.
- Experience in a non-profit setting and prior experience working in workforce services a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including group facilitation and the ability to make presentations.
- Computer literacy required; particularly knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Proficiency in a common refugee or immigrant language skills a plus.
Job Description
The Career Development Coordinator will provide comprehensive career development services to clients enrolled in IRC Career Pathway programs to assist clients in earning industry recognized certifications and advance in their careers. IRC’s Career Development programs will focus on Allied Healthcare, I.T., Manufacturing, and Solar Panel Installation – high-growth and in-demand industries in San Diego. Career Development staff deliver intensive career coaching coupled with on-site literacy and workforce preparation activities classes at the IRC and support off-site workforce training with our training partners, so that students are simultaneously improving their literacy skills, work readiness skills, and working toward a certificate.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct primary outreach for client enrollment into Career Development programming;
- Conduct pre-enrollment assessments with clients, create career development plans detailing a client’s long-term career goals and a step-by-step plan for its achievement, and provide ongoing case management; - Develop and maintain employer relationships within the various sector; - Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files documenting client goals, activities, and services; - Document services provided and client outcomes in case management databases, such as Salesforce and ETO; - Provide one-on-one assistance to help clients prepare their resumes, look for and apply to appropriate job opportunities, and practice interview skills; - Provide one-on-one retention coaching to existing Career Development clients; - Develop and locate appropriate employment opportunities for clients; - Provide classroom (including virtual) instruction in advanced work readiness training and develop and refine curriculum in collaboration with agency staff; - Assist in the planning and coordination of educational presentations and client orientations; - Identify and engage local agencies for participant referrals and conduct regular outreach to educational providers to secure training classes for participants; - Conduct financial assessments for clients and assist in securing financial aid and funding for education programs; - Work closely with IRC employment specialists, case managers, and financial education staff members to integrate career programs activities within existing services; - Support the program supervisor in tracking quantifiable measurements to assess project effectiveness; - May be required to drive clients to IRC-related activities; - Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a related field; or equivalent years of work-related experience; - At least two years (in addition to the above) of related professional experience; - Experience in a non-profit setting and prior experience working in workforce services a plus; - Experience working in a diverse, and non-traditional setting with diverse and multi-lingual client base; - Employer relations, program coordination and record-keeping experience preferred; - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including group facilitation and the ability to make presentations; - Computer literacy required; particularly knowledge of MS Office applications; - Strong written, verbal, computer and interpersonal communication skills are essential; - Proficiency in a common refugee or immigrant language skills a plus.
Working Environment:
- Standard, professional office environment; Hybrid or remote work on occasion; - Regular travel to off-site locations is required; - Office hours are scheduled as Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm; - Some evening or weekends required; - Access to a reliable vehicle to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area with a valid driver's license and current insurance.
