The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization with more than 20,000 personnel working in approximately 170 offices globally. UNDP works in development and crisis settings with the aim to achieve the eradication of poverty, reduction of inequalities and exclusion, and sustained development results.

Drawing on the diversity of UNDP’s client needs and partnerships, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) in the Bureau for Management Services is focused on the implementation of an ambitious and forward-looking three-year strategy, People for 2030, which will progressively

transform UNDP’s culture and enable its workforce capacity to deliver more and better results.

OHR’s Talent Development Unit (TDU), based in Copenhagen (Denmark) plays an important role in the talent development process including developing frameworks, programmes, tools and partnerships. The selected incumbent will hold a critical role in supporting programmes and initiatives aiming to support and enable rewarding career experiences at UNDP, where all personnel have an opportunity to grow professionally and personally, build new knowledge, skills and experiences, and be able to develop their careers. In addition to other initiatives, the Career Development Analyst will support the UNDP Global Mentoring programme, the Virtual Development Assignment Programme (VDAP) and the SPARK programme, a formal career development programme.

Institutional Arrangement

  • This post will report to the People Development Specialist, Career Development in the Talent Development Unit (BMS/OHR/TDU), based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of Work

Career Development:

  • Support digitalization of the Career Framework’s Career Paths for key roles and provide guidance on the respective development experiences.
  • Support the implementation of a formal career development programmes for different priority target groups: Design and deliver UNDP’s virtual SPARK career development programme to support UNDP Women career development.
  • Support the UNDP Global Mentoring Programme by enhancing its communication and contributing to the management of the initiative.
  • Support the management of UNDP’s Career Journey site (internal career management portal).

Capability Development:

  • Support design and management of online / AI platforms related to talent development e.g., to capture current skills and skill gaps (individual and organizational level) related to the employee lifecycle, with the intent to address skill gaps through development.

Research, Evaluation and Operations:

  • Conduct assessments and create reports and presentations for various target groups.
  • Develop and provide regular reports and presentations for various target groups (e.g. HR, TDU,

HRBPs, management, staff).

  • Manage operational tasks as necessary e.g., logistics, collaboration and coordination with vendors, participant management, communications and marketing.

Minimum Qualifications of the Successful IPSA

Min. Education requirements

  • Master level degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Management or other related Social Sciences
  • Alternatively, Bachelor level degree in combination with minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

Min. years of relevant work experience

  • Bachelors with additional 2 years of experience of relevant experience in the public or private sectors with increasing level of responsibility in capability development and creation of a learning organization.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in designing and implementing innovative best in class talent development programmes.

Required skills
