The Sudanese authorities have been working on the management plan development for Old Dongola in Norther State of Sudan which is on the Tentative List for World Heritage nomination. Long Description ---------------- **Assignment** Under the authority of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Sciences in the Arab States and the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist for Culture, the individual specialist shall prepare **a working paper on Old Dongola heritage site** to support its nomination development. To this end, the individual specialist shall perform the following tasks: 1\. Read supporting documents provided by UNESCO to become further familiar with the general context of the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in Sudan; 2\. Conduct desktop research and prepare a draft working paper (approximately 20 pages in English) on Old Dongola heritage site, and submit it to UNESCO for feedback. The draft paper will cover the following aspects; a) Significance of the site, its integrity, and authenticity, b) The state of conservation including factors and risks affecting the property, c) The progress in the ongoing project for the management plan development, d) Comparative analysis with similar heritage sites including those inscribed on the World Heritage List, e) Bibliography and references. f) A strategy and action plan to advance on the World Heritage nomination development of the site by the Sudanese government; 3\. Submit the draft paper to UNESCO for feedback; 4\. Integrate the feedback and submit the final working paper to UNESCO.
