The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC started implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened an area office in Cox’s Bazar, and a main office in Dhaka.

POSITION PROFILE

The Assistant will be responsible for conducting mobile CRFM activities in the refugee camps and ensure all segments of the community have access to the mechanism ensuring systematic receipt, processing, and response to community feedback and complaints in the DRC camps. He/She will report to the CCCM Project Manager. He/She will work in close collaboration with the Protection team and the Code of Conduct (CoC) unit.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

General

  • Raise awareness in the community about the Info Hub and the CFRM Mechanism.
  • Support the CFRM Officer in following up on complaints and provision of information.
  • Support the Communications with Communities (CwC) Officer in conducting awareness sessions around topics raised by the community.
  • Support the CFRM Officer in receiving beneficiaries and providing them with the relevant information or refer them to the appropriate service provider, actors depending on the nature of the complaint.
  • Promote all segments of the community including the most vulnerable to access the mechanism and ensure their voices are heard and complaints referred.
  • Related tasks as requested by the line manager.

Information Provision

  • Share information with beneficiaries and community members about services or assistance based on the beneficiary’s request for information.
  • Engage actively with other actors to ensure all information is available and provided accurately in a timely manner.
  • Conduct informational sessions to beneficiaries about DRC programs and the complaints and feedback mechanisms, DRC and its commitments to beneficiaries, in line with the accountability information provision strategy.
  • Ensure DRC beneficiaries have access to accountability informational materials including leaflets, cards, signs and others.

Handling Feedback and Complaints

  • Listen respectfully to individuals’ feedback, requests for information, assistance or complaints.
  • Process and respond to complaints and provide support to beneficiaries who are seeking help through DRC Info desk and through mobile outreach activities.
  • Enter and track all complaints and feedback received and ensure proper documentation of data in the Kobo system/excel sheet and keep up to date records in order to generate regular reports.
  • Maintain clear follow up tracking procedures for each case following DRC CRFM Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs), under the supervision of the camp manager including intake and reporting.
  • Refer cases to the different actors depending on the nature of the complaint following the DRC CFRM SOPs in coordination with the CFRM Officer.
  • Refer Protection cases to the Child and/or General Protection team respecting the beneficiary’s confidentiality.
  • Ensure beneficiary’s consent is taken for referrals.

Safety

  • Comply with all global and location-specific safety rules, policies, and procedures. Report safety incidents, near-misses and other relevant information to the safety team as shall be briefed during onboarding. Failure to adhere to these will be considered a disciplinary offence while it may also leave you, your colleagues and DRC Bangladesh, at risk.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • At least one (01) year of professional work experience in the humanitarian field, desirably in CCCM.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with local staff and other stakeholders.
  • Open and positive attitude.
  • Genuine care and respect for the needs of others, practically vulnerable populations with strong belief in empowering marginalized and disenfranchised people.
  • High integrity and willingness to conduct her\himself transparently and open to scrutiny.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with minimal supervision, and in a culturally diverse team.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • University or graduate degree in relevant field.

LANGUAGES

  • English - (Fluent in speaking and good in writing and reporting)
  • Bengali - (Fluent in writing and speaking)
  • Chittagonian (Required)
