UNICEF is seeking candidates for our internship roster to work with the Finance and Master Data Management team in the Global Shared Services Centre in Budapest, Hungary. Finance interns will have the opportunity to learn about the various business process performed, join various trainings and gain challenging work experience within a newly created global center.

UNICEF’s Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) provides services to UNICEF offices across the world in the areas of Finance, Master Data Management, Human Resources Administration, Payroll, and Customer Care (IT Global Help Desk).

Internships with UNICEF offer a unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF's work and the United Nations system under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff. Internships are offered depending on the availability of meaningful assignments and the needs and capacity of units/offices to receive and supervise interns.

How can you make a difference?

UNICEF is seeking candidates for our Finance internship roster to work with the Finance and Master Data Management team in our Global Shared Services Centre in Budapest, Hungary. Finance interns will have the opportunity to learn about the various business process performed, join various trainings and gain challenging work experience within a global center.

Finance Interns will have the opportunity through working in the office to learn about UNICEF’s mission, its various programs, and how it operates globally, while being exposed to working in an international environment. This role will further develop analytical and transactional skills while allowing participation in project work and providing support to senior colleagues.

Interns will be responsible for supporting projects and processes in the stream areas indicated above. Interns will also perform ad hoc administrative, analysis, coordination and support functions in support of overall Finance MDM team.

As an advocate for every child, you will have…

  • Current enrollment in Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree programme or be recent graduate (within past two years) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics or other related area
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize concepts and material into clear and concise thoughts
  • Excellent understanding of and knowledge of software such as Lotus based applications, HTML, Word, Excel
  • Ability to organize and manage information to achieve defined goals and optimum results
  • Ability to effectively present thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise, and readily understood manner, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to listen to and acknowledge others' perspectives and views
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple assignments simultaneously and to adapt to changing demands and circumstances
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently

Eligible applicants must be nationals of EU countries or currently studying in Hungary with valid residence permit for the purpose of studies and must carry and adequate and regular insurance plan during the period of their internship.

Contract Duration and Terms

Internships will be for a 3 to 6 months duration, depending on organizational needs and intern availability.

Internships are paid with a stipend of approximately HUF 232,000 per month for full-time arrangements (40hrs/week), which will be prorated for part-time schedules. Work arrangements are based on the effective regulations of the duty station, organizational needs and the schedules of the interns.

The selected intern will be required to provide proof of enrollment in a health/accident plan prior to taking up the assignment.
