**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Field Office Duty Station: Bangkok Job Family: Public Information Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 1 to 6 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Bangkok Time): 02-JAN-2024 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- The Communications and Public Engagement (CPE) Team helps shape the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok (UNESCO Bangkok)’s public image and raise the organization’s visibility in the region through media and communications outreach, publications, office website and social media. CPE supports the communications goals of all teams across the organization’s areas of competence in the region. The team works with programme sections/teams to prepare overall communications strategies, develop messaging and communication goals and implement strategies through appropriate media. As a central service team in communications, CPE fields regular requests from director and colleagues for communications-related support around initiatives, publications, campaigns and others. CPE also oversees the UNESCO Bangkok website and social media channels, ensuring that content is engaging for all of UNESCO’s stakeholders, including external audiences. WORK ASSIGNMENT --------------- **WORK ASSIGNMENT:** Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok and as a member of the CPE Team, the Individual Specialist shall develop communication materials to enhance UNESCO’s visibility in the region. The Individual Specialist shall specifically perform the following tasks: - Write public information materials including feature articles and recap of events in English and Thai for dissemination on UNESCO channels as well as both traditional and new media such as printed material, website, social media, in a journalistic style and in coordination with programme staff; - Translate the aforementioned public information materials from English to Thai and vice versa, edit and proofread translation work by other colleagues for quality control; - Monitor media coverage and submit monthly reports on UNESCO’s visibility; assist in production of CPE Monitoring Report and Newsletter, proposing strategies to achieve better visibility and impact; - Develop and assist in production of office-wide outreach products such as video, infographics, brochure, poster including script writing and storyboard drafting; - Collaborate with CPE team members to ensure optimal use of communication channels to advance communication objectives, assist the team in gathering materials and information for communications and outreach purposes; - Provide support for media and communication, assist in events for communications and outreach purposes including press events and exhibitions; and - Undertake additional tasks assigned by the Regional Director of UNESCO Bangkok when required. Expected Deliverables Long Description -------------------------------------- Monthly deliverables: - Monthly report of media coverage monitoring and completed work (including number of written and translated words) In line with UNESCO's overall gender mainstreaming strategy, the Individual Specialist is expected to integrate a gender perspective in all activities and apply gender analysis and mainstreaming concepts whenever feasible.
