UNICEF China Country Office (CCO) is committed to support a high performing team, by nurturing and investing in its personnel, with the aim to achieve quality results for children in China and beyond.

The Roster of individual service providers (professional coach consultants) – will provide a pool of candidates that can be used by UNICEF China office to facilitate individual and group learning and development through coaching, trainings, and workshops on performance management, team effectiveness, career development and leadership.

How can you make a difference?

The consultants are expected to provide one-on-one and group coaching service. Topics may include but are not limited to: Identifying specific areas for growth, 360 assessment debriefs, general coaching, leadership coaching, career coaching, and team building.

The consultants are also expected to deliver online and face-to-face workshops and webinars. This may include but is not limited to: Design and deliver HR Learning programmes for Capacity Building in various areas of work, leadership, performance management and career management, design training material (slides workbooks, user guides...), facilitate team meetings or deliver a Training of Trainers workshops as required.

The assignments will involve a combination of the above, based on consultant background and needs expressed by UNICEF China personnel and HR office.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

- Minimum Academic Qualifications required and disciplines:

  • Master’s degree in leadership, Change management, Communication, Human Resources Management, Education, Business Administration, International Relations, or a relevant field.
  • Licenses or Professional certifications required are: ICF Coaching Certification or similar international accreditation.

- Knowledge/Experience/Expertise/Skills required:

Work experience

  • Sound knowledge and experience of delivering coaching at various levels.
  • Expertise in Human Resources, Organizational Development and an understanding of Performance Management, Career Development.
  • Expertise in designing and developing adult learning materials/resources/guidelines is an asset.
  • It is preferable that the individual has experience with, or in, multilateral institutions.
  • Knowledge of UN common practices in HR is an added advantage.

Knowledge, skills and expertise required

  • Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Proven competency in public speaking, team building, conflict resolution, leadership development, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and/or Chinese.
  • Working knowledge in English is required. Knowledge of another UN Language is a significant asset.
  • Ability to identify issues, formulate opinions, make conclusions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrates professional competency and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and meeting results.
  • Good judgment, initiative, high sense of responsibility, tact, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Works effectively on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapts to changing demands and circumstances.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to establish harmonious working relations in a multicultural environment.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
