ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Delivering food by land, sea, and air, WFP Logistics is the essential link in feeding more than 85 million people worldwide every year. On any given day, logistics staff manage an average of 5,600 trucks, 20 ocean shipments, and 92 aircraft to deliver food and transport aid workers to some of the world's most remote locations. Job holders report to the Warehouse Management Assistant/Associate or the designate. Job holders are exposed to all phases of the warehouse operations and work with minimum supervision. They may provide supervision and on-the-job training to other warehouse staff.

JOB PURPOSE

To handle receipt/dispatch and verification of commodities in order to maximise quality of warehouse operations and mitigate losses, and to support the best storage management practices in compliance with WFP warehouse standards and established guidelines.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate/ university degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Finance, Economics, ; or a related field is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills: • Knowledge of MS office (Outlook, MS Excel, MS word). • Uses tact and courtesy to give and receive information to a wide range of individuals. • Ability to identify data discrepancies and rectify problems requiring attention. • Minimum understanding of supply chain operations.

Languages: Fluency in both written and spoken communication in the Portuguese and English languages.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

• Under direct supervision of the Warehouse Manager or delegated authority, provide support to Logistics operation and activities, following the standards processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries. • Support invoice processing in coordination with Country Office, liaise whenever necessary with service provider/partner/retailer to expedite the process Support the planning and implementation of innovative supply chain operations, initiatives, and services to ensure timely, cost-effective cash Based Transfer (CBT) operation in Cabo Delgado. • Provide technical advice and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation initiatives analyzing best practices from the humanitarian and private sector. • Support the management of logistics retailers' contracts, including performance monitoring and measurements. • Assist in processing retailers claims in a timely manner and ensure that those are in full compliance with WFP standard procedures. • Assist in monitoring the inventory management process to track trends and account for the inventory status from the source to the beneficiary. • Assist in close monitoring the retailer’s performance, regarding the quality of commodities rendered to the beneficiaries. • Other logistics related tasks as required.

SUPERVISION (Level/Methods of Supervision)

The selected candidate will be assigned a Buddy and Mentor for support and guidance during their career learning journey.

TRAINING COMPONENTS

The selected candidate will undergo a structured development programme which will be communicated on commencement.

LEARNING ELEMENTS

The candidate will be required to provide an overview of their learning experience and key deliverables during and at the end of the 6-month programme. A detailed guideline will be provided by HR on the requirements of this process.
