ABOUT WFP

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs will be based in Provincial Office Quetta Balochistan. At this level, work is carried out under close supervision or immediately available assistance. Job holders are expected to produce organised and accurate work.

BACKGROUND OF THE POSITION:

With the recent expansion of the BISP program across Balochistan the services are being rendered through 71 functional facilitation centers established at the functioning health facilities and have been placed strategically to provide services to the maximum number of beneficiaries. WFP is implementing the BNP in Balochistan through 5 cooperating partners (CPs). Beneficiary reach-out has been done through the deployment of the mobilization teams employed by the CPs, which comprises of two female mobilizers and a male supervisor. Each FC has the same standard composition of teams. The recent flooding in Balochistan wreaked havoc devastating 34 districts across the province affecting the already vulnerable populations, namely, women, and children. The already fragile health systems were also severely affected resulting in severe infrastructure damages to certain health facilities, creating interruptions/ discontinuity in services. Additionally, the floods further led to exponential increase in the number of households with food insecurity. According to recent surveys conducted by UNICEF, the GAM rates across the province have risen steeply where the average stunting prevalence rates were already 46.6% (NNS 2018). Given the grave situation, there will be addition of beneficiaries who have received COVID, petrol adjustment and other forms of short-term assistance provided through the BISP platform. Considering the goal for the universal coverage (covering all beneficiaries of BISP umbrella, provided they fulfil the admission criteria for Nashonuma Program), there will be addition of caseload (BNP The additional beneficiaries have been intimated by BISP through texts and calls that they can seek assistance from the Nashonuma Program though they will not be eligible for support from the BISP Kafalat Program. The World Food Programme (WFP) Provincial Office will establish a dedicated helpline to provide information and assistance to beneficiaries of the Benazir Nashonuma Program. The helpline will be available during the official hours of the facilitation centers and will be staffed by multilingual personnel who can provide guidance on the program's admission criteria and direct beneficiaries to the nearest facilitation center. The helpline number will be printed on IEC material and disseminated across the province. This will ensure that anyone seeking information on the program can easily access it. The helpline will be a valuable resource for beneficiaries of the Benazir Nashonuma Program. It provides a convenient way to get information about the program and to connect with staff who can help with any questions or concerns.
