ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The job is based in Beirut Country Office. Job holder is expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of finance related processes and activities requiring knowledge of accounting and accounting standards.

JOB PURPOSE

To deliver standard business support processes for finance unit, to facilitate effective service delivery.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the Finance Officer and the overall supervision of the Head of Finance, the Business Support Assistant (Finance) will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assist in providing the procedural and technical support to staff within the areas of finance, budget, and programming, to ensure effective and efficient financial management policies.
  • Prepare periodical finance and expenditure reports to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Arrange a periodical finance and support service-related committees and prepare a note of the meeting.
  • Manage daily petty cash transactions in Country Office and provide cash management support to the field offices.
  • Assist in compiling information from various sources in order to support operational planning and to prepare reports relating to budgets, accounting, finance and statistics.
  • Retrieve and validate information obtained from various financial information systems and bring any discrepancy or inaccuracy to the attention of the supervisor and follow up corrective actions.
  • Monitor and record all expenses in line with the approved budget to ensure that correct expenditure costs are charged and payments to external suppliers, cash grants and other supplier invoices are processed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, contribute to a good working environment, be professional team player and provide high standard financial services to internal/external clients.
  • Perform other related duties as required

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. University degree in Finance, Accounting or other related fields is a plus.

Experience: At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in Finance.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
