ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT & ROLE

The Business Support Assistant will work in UNHAS and in collaboration with the other units of WFP

OBJECTIVES

Humanitarian partners across the Syrian Arab Republic benefit from augmented logistics and emergency telecommunications capacity and air services, enabling them to provide humanitarian assistance throughout the crisis.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1. Collate information for inclusion in reports, documents and correspondence, to support the effective work of other staff. 2. Respond to standard queries and provide timely and accurate guidance. 3. Maintain aviation customer services 4. Support airport ground operations 5. Liaise with airport officials and other local authorities in order to obtain necessary clearances, documentation and authorisations required for air operations. 6. Process and manage routine administrative and financial tasks in various functional areas, to contribute to the effective and timely management of resources 7. Manage and maintain records and databases, to ensure information is organised and readily available for staff. 8. Maintain relationships with a range of individuals through provision of business support to assist in information sharing and service delivery to staff. 9. Proof-read reports, documentation, correspondence, etc., making changes in line with established guidelines where appropriate. 10. Contribute to improvement of business procedures and processes. 11. Collect and perform basic analysis of data to contribute to quality business information management.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.

Experience: At least four years of progressively responsible work experience in the relative business stream with experience in general administrative work. At least one year working experience in administration of air operations.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic and in English.

The contract offered provides fvourable conditions and remuneration base salary and social security contribution.
