Digital Transformation Programme

The UNOPS digital transformation programme commenced in 2023, working in close partnership with the Chief Information Officer and field office managers and directors to define the Digital vision for UNOPS and develop appropriate and sustainable solutions that meet UNOPS needs, especially within field operations.

The programme oversees a variety of digital transformation initiatives led across the organization, to coordinate deliverables and benefits realization.

A programme team is now being established to provide business driven leadership for and support to UNOPS digital/business transformation. This requires a deep understanding of the business, both at the strategic as well as the operational levels; as well as a consultative and facilitative approach, to process re-engineering, development of interfaces and reporting.

The Digital Transformation programme is expected to last three (3) years.

Role of the Business Process Analyst

The Business Process Analyst is responsible for collaborating with the relevant functions across the organization, to understand the core business need and to coordinate and monitor the development work.

The role supports the organization by producing process flow designs, in close collaboration with the relevant business functions that may be impacted by the change in the process

It will also ensure that any products delivered address the business needs, and results in improvements in the form of increased effectiveness, efficiency, or differentiation for UNOPS products and services on time and within resources.

The role will report to the Process Advisor once recruited, however the Change Management Advisor will provide interim supervision and guidance until the team is in place.

The position is based in Copenhagen, Denmark. In exceptional circumstances it can be home-based.

Functional Responsibilities

1. Identify business needs - Assess client needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes). - Analyze client operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to uncover opportunities for improvements. - Conduct requirements workshops and meetings to gather requirements from the business function. - Identify business needs and benefits of the change in the business process and ensure separation from preconceived solutions. - Produce documentation of the business need, benefits of change, and detailed requirements

2. Process design - Produce process and data flow design in close collaboration with the relevant business function as well as other relevant business functions that may be impacted by the change in the process. - Ensure that requirements and process design span across wider value delivery processes. - Negotiate with business functions to drive the potential realization of tangible benefits from changes to business processes. - Make recommendations and demonstrate how to best utilize UNOPS business systems to accomplish business objectives.

3. Solution design - Produce progress and status reports on a regular basis. - Closely monitor project risks and issues and escalate them to the product manager in a timely manner. - Manage project stakeholders closely by keeping them informed of project progress. - Provide inputs to the Solutions Design team to assist in the development of appropriate solutions for the business function. - Assist in production support by investigating reported application problems and work with the Information Technology Group (ITG) functional and technical specialists to test, diagnose, analyze and isolate the root cause of problems. Coordinate further diagnosis and tests as necessary and recommend workarounds where appropriate. - Troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develop requirements for addressing the same. - Provide functional support in the development and review of design activities for system improvements, changes, enhancements and upgrades as they relate to the business function - Responsible for the development of acceptance criteria, test scenarios and test cases for functional testing of solutions delivered by ITG. - Responsible for performing all QA activities needed, making sure the product meets the requirements and business needs.

4. Training - Identify training needs for functional experts within business functions. - Develop and facilitate and/or conduct training sessions for functional experts / trainers with the business function (workshops, webinars, webcasts, one-to-one, online). - Maintain and update training material to ensure that it is current and relevant.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

  • Master’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science or other relevant discipline is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in combination with additional two years of experience may be accepted in lieu of Master’s degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum 2 years of experience required in business process review is required.
  • Experience working with end-user clients and business-area process leaders of business functions to develop requirements for new and enhanced functionality is required.
  • Experience in translating business issues into technology solutions is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing training materials for enterprise systems is an asset
  • Experience in quality assurance and functional documentation is an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Full working knowledge of English is essential.
  • Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is an asset.
