You have:

  • An advanced (Master’s) University Degree in Business, Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Public Administration or any other relevant discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in the field of management at the national and international level, ideally including direct field/in-country experience.
  • UN common system knowledge and work experience with the United Nations Efficiency Agenda including BOS implementation is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language an asset.

Salary

The salary for this job should be between 131,084 USD and 171,644 USD.

Job Summary

This position is located in the Facilities and Administrative Services Branch (FASB) within the Division for Management Services (DMS). FASB provides and oversees a broad range of support services relating to facilities and asset management, travel, mail & pouch and administrative/general services for both Headquarters and Field Offices. The term Field Offices includes all offices located outside of Headquarters including Regional/Sub-Regional Offices, Liaison Offices and Country Offices. The incumbent reports to the Chief, Administrative & Common Services Section and supervises 3 staff.

The incumbent maintains professional contacts with staff at UNFPA-Headquarters, Development Coordination Office (DCO), UNDP and other sister agencies together with field based colleagues. Provides professional support, analyses, clarification, and information and maintains regular contact with staff, within and outside the Organization as may be required.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Chief Administrative & Common Services Section, the Business Operations Specialist provides expert guidance and leadership on Business Operations Strategy (BOS)/Common Back Office (CBO) implementation, Efficiency calculations, Vehicle fleet management and mail and pouch services on a global scale.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

An advanced (Master’s) University Degree in Business, Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Public Administration or any other relevant discipline;

Knowledge and Experience:

5 years of experience in the field of management at the national and international level, this should ideally include direct field/in-country experience; UN common system knowledge and work experience with the United Nations Efficiency Agenda including BOS implementation is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.

Languages:

Fluency in written and spoken English required. Knowledge of another official UN language an asset.
