You have:

  • Fluency in oral and written English is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language is desirable

Who we are looking for: We are seeking to identify a Business Metrics and Reporting Analyst with a variety of capabilities.

What we offer: a consultancy contract of up to 3 months from start date will be offered to the selected candidate(s).

Workplace: This is a remote role with a team working in the Central European Time (CET) time zone; for this role at least six working hours must overlap with the 08:30am to 5pm CET working day.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. WFP Technology Division (TEC, formerly known as the IT Division) is the digital business engine of the World Food Programme, providing the business with multi-pronged and resilient technical capabilities able to respond with the agility required in humanitarian operations.

WFP’s vision for automation is to transform the organization into a modern, productive and paper-less office by reducing or eliminating manual processes, thereby ensuring that its human capital can be dedicated to helping the most vulnerable.

WFP’s automation agenda seeks to prioritize field-based needs and as such a review was conducted in 2020 to gather automation requirements. A number of automation activities for field-focused automation have been identified for implementation in 2021.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

Reporting to the Head of Automation, the analyst has a diverse background and will curate and execute Business Value assessments, KPI definition, benchmarking, and value messaging. He/she will analyze data on automation and report on efficiency gains from business process automation activities.

The Analyst will design and assist Automation Working Group members in creation of efficiency gains metrics. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of business processes across automation product lines and the ability to recommend changes, redesign, etc., as needed to support the business. This role will require cross-functional collaboration with business colleagues and functional departments.

The analyst will have the ability to discuss, in business terms, the transformative journey that WFP needs to take to develop and communicate compelling reasons to change using KPIs such as the cost of delay or doing nothing.

The incumbent will be based remotely and work with global colleagues in our Nairobi, Rome HQ and Country Offices. As such, the role will require proven ability to work in remote teams.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate identification of efficiency goals, timelines, standardized KPI improvements, cost reduction and efficiency gains;
  • Convene Automation Working Group members, lead and document definition of KPIs and corresponding baselines through engagement with those benefitting from automation;
  • Report on automation efficiency gains, aligned with WFP efficiency gains reporting standards on cost avoidance, time savings and quality improvements.
  • Analyze existing efficiency gains activities and perform best practice benchmark gap analysis.
  • Develop/ update process documentation, ROI models, work instructions and other tools to support execution and enable value-based conversations.
  • Other duties are required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education

Advanced University Degree in Business Administrations, Computer Science, Information Management or other relevant discipline

Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in leading efficiency gains analysis (Business Value Consulting experience) efforts.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into measurable action and present findings in senior, cross functional forums for evaluation.
  • Ability to present complex processes in easy-to-understand terms to various cross functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, both large and small, with competing due dates.
  • Demonstrable skills in value analysis, business transformation, communication, problem solving and report writing.
  • Ability to work on project deliverables with minimal supervision.

Technical Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • Detail oriented, effective in time management and highly organized;
  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to create presentations;
  • Managing Relationships: working in teams, excellent communicating verbal and written information and ideas, self-management, capturing output of workgroups;
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environments.

Language:

Fluency in oral and written English is required. An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
