Background

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

UN Women MCO-Caribbean (MCO) covers 22 English and Dutch speaking countries and territories in the Caribbean. The MCO is based in Barbados and has personnel across 5 Caribbean countries as there remains high and consistent demand for the exercise of UN Women’s integrated mandate across the 22 countries and territories.

The MCO has entered into a new Strategic Note and has expanded its organizational structure to meet the need of the new work programme. It is essential that personnel working for the MCO are given all the necessary tools to contribute to a psychologically safe working environment and have the necessary tools to excel in delivering in their roles.

Duties and Responsibilities

OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

To provide coaching services to MCO personnel as needed.

SCOPE OF WORK AND DELIVERABLES

The Consultant will be responsible for producing the following deliverables:

DELIVERABLES

  • 2 sessions for all personnel on strengthening team dynamics.
  • Individual coaching sessions as needed with personnel (maximum of 29 personnel).

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

The consultant will work under the overall supervision of the UN Women MCO-Caribbean Representative, with direct reporting to the Admin/Operations Associate (HR Focal Point).

Functional Competencies:

  • Strong coaching skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills including the conveying complex concepts and recommendations, in a clear and persuasive style tailored to match different audiences.

Required Skills and Experience

The consultant should meet the following criteria:

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of coaching.
  • Prior experience in the UN System and the Region will be an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in oral and written English is required

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with post-graduate qualifications in one of the following areas: Human Resources/Personnel Management or Business Administration.
  • Professional training and certification in related areas, preferably related to the Human resources with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in human resources or personnel management.

OR

  • 15 Demonstrable experience in coaching. A coaching certificate would be an asset

    LOCATION AND DURATION

  • The consultancy will be home based (travel may be required).

  • The consultant will be engaged for a maximum of 120 working days during the period 1 March 2022 – 1 March 2023

REMUNERATION

  • The consultancy fee will be negotiated before contracting. Each payment will be based on a predefined and formal agreement between UN Women and the consultant and will be disbursed based on satisfactory completion of agreed deliverables.

  • The remuneration for this contract type is an all-inclusive fee, the organization will not be liable for additional cost or benefits. Hence, it is the responsibility of the consultant to take out adequate medical insurance for the duration of the contract and it is recommendable that the policy includes coverage for COVID-19 related illness. The medical coverage should be international when the contract requires missions or international assignment.

  • If selected for this vacant post, proof of medical coverage should be presented within the first two months of the contract.

HARDWARE, SOFTWARE, AND COMMUNICATION:

  • The consultant must be equipped with a fully functional laptop, which must run at least Windows 7. The consultant must be reasonably accessible by email and telephone (preferably mobile). The use of reliable, internet-based (Skype or equivalent) is required.

REFERENCES:

  • Minimum of three client references that include the name of the contact person, title and contact information.

OTHER:

  • The consultant must be equipped with a fully functional laptop, which must comfortably run Office 365 programs, using operating systems Microsoft Windows 10/11, or Mac OS X 10.11 or upward. The consultant must be reasonably accessible by email and telephone (preferably mobile). The use of reliable, internet-based (Skype or equivalent) is required.
