Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

The Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, co-led by the UNDP Istanbul International Centre for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, mobilizes skilled digital volunteers to co-create open-source solutions that enhance inclusion, resilience, and recovery.

In collaboration with UNDP Ukraine and the All-Ukrainian Youth Centre, Tech4R supports the VidNOVA:UA Programme — a national initiative that engages youth across Ukraine in rebuilding their communities through interregional exchanges. The initiative’s Digital Map of Youth Exchanges (VidNOVA:UA) visualizes these projects through an open-source web platform, highlighting the reach and impact of youth-led recovery efforts.

Digital Solutions Volunteers will contribute to the enhancement and sustainability of this platform through technical, design, data, and documentation support. The multidisciplinary volunteer team will ensure that the platform is accessible, accurate, and user-friendly — serving as a digital tool that amplifies community-led development across Ukraine.

We are looking for a team of online volunteers who can support the project team in:

  • Develop and optimize components of the web-based map using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or low-code tools.
  • Integrate and validate datasets through APIs or other data pipelines (e.g., Google Sheets, OpenSheet API).
  • Process, clean, and visualize geographic and tabular data using open-source tools (e.g., Leaflet, QGIS).
  • Design and test responsive, accessible user interfaces that follow universal design principles.
  • Conduct quality assurance and performance testing to ensure reliability across devices.

  • Basic proficiency in one or more of the following: web development, GIS, UI/UX, QA, or digital content creation.

  • Educational background (or currently studying): Computer Science, Information Systems, Geoinformatics, Design, Communication, or related technical fields would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with open-source or low-code technologies (e.g., HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Figma, QGIS, Google Sheets).
  • Understanding of accessibility, usability, and responsive design principles.
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication in team-based digital environments.
