You have:
- A demonstrable passion for Relief International's mission.
- Significant leadership experience in non-profit organizations or similar sectors.
- Robust networks and relationships to facilitate partnerships and collaborations.
- Experience in governance roles or decision-making bodies.
- Expertise in one or more of the subject matter areas listed in the job description.
The governing bodies (“boards”) of the three Relief International Alliance members (Relief International US, Relief International UK, and Relief International France) provide guidance, oversight, and direction to our strategy and leadership initiatives. They act as leaders, advisors, and key decision makers, who help shape our mission, values, and strategies to meet the complex needs of the communities we serve. Board members actively participate in and drive the development of strategies by setting measurable goals that are technically and financially sound.

This is a challenging time for Relief International and the sector at large. Addressing the root causes and prevalence of humanitarian need requires innovation and fresh thinking, providing an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who are passionate about Relief International’s mission and embrace its values.
We are looking for a Chair who will be an inspirational leader with the energy and strategic vision to lead the Relief International boards and leadership towards achieving its long-term strategies.
We are also seeking three other new board members who, together with the Chair, will contribute their complimentary skills and experience as thought leaders, bringing robust networks and relationships that can help facilitate partnerships, collaborations and financial resources, and a commitment to continued innovation, growth, and excellence.
New board members will play an important role in translating our newly sharpened strategy into action for excellence, overseeing our governance and providing oversight and support to our executive leadership to ensure that we have the right resources in place. These resources include funding, talent, culture, knowledge, systems, stakeholder relationships as well as brand and reputation.
You will be joining a team of purpose- and values-driven leaders with unique and inspiring connections to Relief International’s mission, both personally and professionally.
Subject matter expertise in the following areas would bring value to our Boards:
- Philanthropy and Fundraising
- Non-profit governance
- Public Relations and Media
- Human Resources
- Climate Change
- Humanitarian Relief and International Development
- Technical expertise of medical, public health, and/or water and sanitation engineering in the global south
- Technology, digitization, privacy and cybersecurity
