Job Description

Job Overview: IRC SLC health team strives to ensure that our clients are physically and mentally healthy and able to access healthcare independently. The health program consists of several focus areas: health promotion, health access, women’s health, mental health, community health and outreach, maternal and child health, transportation and gender equity. The Women’s Health Promotion intern will be supporting our Women’s Health Promotion Project that focuses on women’s health, including sexual and reproductive health. We are working with our clients, community, and broader organizations to create client-centered solutions to build women’s health programing. This internship position would be supporting the facilitation of needs assessments, data collection, community outreach and partnership, and material development.

Major Responsibilities:

- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Develop and Create a Women’s Health Resource Guide local to the Salt Lake City Area - Conduct Community Needs Assessment Surveys with Refugee Clients - Conduct Research on Women’s Health/Sexual & Reproductive Health Promotion Curriculums - Assist in the coordination and facilitation of women’s health promotion workshops - Assist Clients in scheduling Women’s Health Related Medical/Health Appointments - Provide Public Transit Orientations and/or Provide Direct Transportation to/from client appointments and workshops. - Attend and Contribute to Programmatic and Team Meetings - Other Duties as assigned (office support, front desk, etc.)

Job Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma

Work Experience:

Relevant professional or volunteer experience in human services field required – social work, health care, or non profit experience preferred.

Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives. - Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships. - Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment. - Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. - Attention to detail and accuracy in work product. - Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. - Occasional domestic (non-local) travel required; up to 10%. - May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
