Background

Nabni’ (نبني), meaning ‘we build ’ in Arabic, is an initiative that seeks to further the Building for Peace (B4P) approach in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It aims to contribute to locally led reconstruction processes in the region that also promote peace, address the underlying drivers of local conflict, (re) build infrastructure, create new economic opportunities and strengthen social cohesion in target communities.

Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the KfW Development Bank, Nabni as a Facility will primarily support local civil society organisations in leading processes and projects that aim to build or rehabilitate infrastructure, strengthen governance, improve access to essential services, and support or create livelihoods opportunities - all with a view to supporting peace and strengthening social cohesion at the community level in conflict and displacement affected communities in the region.

What we are looking for

The B4P Facility Manager position is a senior role that will serve as the main entry point of the Facility at country level. They are responsible for coordinating the Facility’s support to local NGO (LNGO) partners and proactively engaging with national and local stakeholders throughout the project cycle to ensure coordination and improved acceptance of the Facility. The role combines both strategic elements – helping shape the strategy of the Facility, position it among and represent it to key stakeholders, advise and support with partner selection, as well as operational elements – linked to supporting and maintaining oversight of all aspects of the operations of local partners.

What You Will Do

  • Member of the Nabni - B4P Fund Management Unit (FMU)
  • In consultation with the Grant Facility Director, leads on providing direction to the country-level Facility strategy and priorities.
  • Ensuring compliance with and adherence to NRC and Facility policies, guidance, and procedures.
  • Representation of the Facility and member of the Fund Management Unit (FMU) in relevant fora, and networking as required.

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior management position
  • Prior expertise in implementing and monitoring programming in fragile contexts of the MENA Region is mandatory.
  • Proven experience working on partnerships with local organisations or in leading local organisations.
  • Advanced University degree in social sciences, international development, conflict studies, public policy or another related field.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.
  • Specific knowledge of German development cooperation is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in representation and advocacy.

What We Offer

  • Erbil or Baghdad, Iraq duty station.
  • Travel: Approximately 30% nationally
  • Contract Duration: 24 months (renewable based on performance and funding)
  • Senior Grade 10 in NRC’s Salary Scale. NRC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
