Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the nurse and the medical officer, the auxiliary nurse will provide basic medical care and support to patients, including administering medication, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with daily living activities. he/she will also maintain accurate patient records and communicate any changes in patient condition to the healthcare team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist doctors and nurses during consultations. - Conduct duties assigned including dressing wounds and helping the midwives during delivery. - Implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for patients with a known long-term condition. - Identify and manage as appropriate treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition. - Prioritize health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care. - Support patients to adopt health promotion IRC strategies that encourage patients to live healthily and apply principles of self-care. - Deliver opportunistic health promotion using opportunities such as new patient-medicals. - Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication on medication regimens, side effects and interactions. - Assess and care for patients with present with uncomplicated wounds. - Support and advice women requesting information relating to family planning needs. - Support and manage health needs of women present for cervical cytology consultation. - Implement and participate in vaccination and immunization programs for both adults and children. - Carry out additional duties as may be required.

Qualifications

- Diploma in provision of basic nursing services from a recognized institution. Relevant regular trainings from a credible health organization. - Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a health program set up. - Self-motivated and pro-active attitude with good organization, planning, and analytic skills, including prioritizing work, multi-tasking and attention to detail. - A mature person of high professional discipline and moral integrity. - Previous experience within a humanitarian aid organization, in particular working in primary health care programs and conducting nursing. - Strong counseling skills. - Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and in constantly evolving work environments; - Demonstrated analytical, systematic-thinking, and problem-solving skills are definite assets; - A strong understanding of accountability and proven ability to build Client Feedback Systems - Must be a good team player with a proven track record of good interpersonal relations - Commitment to Continuous Learning - Willingness to keep abreast of new developments - Fluent in English and Somali.
