You have:
- Advanced University Degree in Business Administrations, Computer Science, Information Management or other relevant discipline
- 6 years or more of relevant progressive work experience in managing IT projects related to digital transformation or automation
- Demonstrated knowledge of Change Management and HCD methodologies
- Ability to interact comfortably with different levels of management and functional teams
- Fluency in oral and written English is required
- An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese is desirable

Who we are looking for: We are seeking to identify a Automation Manager with a variety of capabilities.
What we offer: a consultancy contract of up to 6 months from start date will be offered to the selected candidate(s).
Workplace: You will be expected to work from remote with a team working in the Central European Standard Time (CEST) time zone; for this role at least six working hours must overlap with the 08:30am to 5pm CEST working day.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. WFP Technology Division (TEC, formerly known as the IT Division) is the digital business engine of the World Food Programme, providing the business with multi-pronged and resilient technical capabilities able to respond with the agility required in humanitarian operations.
WFP’s vision for automation is to transform the organization into a modern, productive and paper-less office by reducing or eliminating manual processes, thereby ensuring that its human capital can be dedicated to helping the most vulnerable.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
A Business and Technology cross-functional Automation Working Group (AWG) oversees development of an annual automation workplan based on needs that are prioritized according to the value delivered for the organization.
The Automation Manager (AM) will work with the AWG business units and Technology teams in HQ and global offices to support development and deployment of an automation roadmap which defines 2–3-year direction for automation in WFP. The AM will also support country offices in implementation of automation projects and products, developing standards related to automation critical success factors; Change Management, Business Process Management (BPM) and Human-Centered Design (HCD), as well as foster adoption of the standard approaches in these areas.
The AM will also be responsible for alignment of automation activities across the landscape, identifying and acting on potential duplication of efforts, providing essential inputs to both HQ and CO decision-making on where best to focus efforts and priorities. This will include coordination and support for the Automation Working Group (AWG), which leads automation governance and prioritisation, and promotes automation best practices.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead development of the Automation roadmap through internal stakeholder engagement.
- Review, identify and implement improvements to the process to define the automation annual workplan including the capturing and prioritizing of global automation needs.
- Support implementation of 2022 automation workplan,
- Provide expert knowledge of products and automation solutions to HQ and field stakeholders.
- Lead development of guidance and tools for Change Management, HCD and BPM for corporate and local automation projects, providing training and communications to ensure their use.
- Develop communication plan and products in liaison with business and IT Communications focal points to increase awareness and provide updates to WFP staff on automation activities.
- Update and maintain an overview of the WFP automation landscape, ensuring engagement will all relevant stakeholders to capture latest information.
- Lead review, identification, and implementation of improvements to efficiency gains reporting, supporting development of productivity baseline and impact of automation to calculate return on investment.
- Prepare and participate in work planning and progress reporting meetings with business and IT stakeholders as well as Automation Working Group meetings.
- Support management of automation budget and staff recruitment.
- Develop and manage automation projects according to agreed timelines and report on progress.
- Maintain weekly progress status reports for all assigned activities and projects.
- Travel to field offices and support to country office projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education
Advanced University Degree in Business Administrations, Computer Science, Information Management or other relevant discipline
Experience
6 years or more of relevant progressive work experience in managing IT projects related to digital transformation or automation.
Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated track record of partnering with business stakeholders to guide on digital strategy and/or identify and prioritize related activities.
Technical Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to interact comfortably with different levels of management and functional teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of Change Management and HCD methodologies
- Demonstrated ability in the areas of process mapping and requirements gathering to support technical implementations
- Self-motivated with the ability to meet tight individual and/or group deadlines
- Highly organized and efficient, with an attention to detail and excellent communication and written skills
- Proven track record of being a self-starter and ability to gain an understand of business processes quickly and how they translate into technical development requirements
- General knowledge of WFP Business Process Areas would be an asset.

- Is knowledgeable and adheres to information technology security protocols and procedures
- Ability to work in multi-cultural and multi-ethic environments.
Language:
Fluency in oral and written English is required. An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
