Org. Setting and Reporting These positions are located in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, Special Political Missions and Service Centers and Offices as applicable. The Associated Supply Chain Business Intelligence Officer provides support with Supply Chain performance monitoring and reporting within field mission. The Incumbent provides support to the Chief of the Unit/Section on the activities related to end-to-end Supply Chain performance management.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Associate Supply Chain Business Intelligence Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assist in the identification of information sources from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems modules and other relevant systems of record to capture required data for the end-to-end Supply Chain business performance.
  • Extract, manipulate, integrate and prepare data for analysis, dashboards, monitoring and visualization, using tools such as Power BI, etc.
  • Develop, optimize and maintain visualizations tools to provide real-time insights to business data.
  • Perform periodic data quality control and ensure that governance processes are in place and are being followed.
  • As guided by the supervisor, prepare recommendations on data analysis.
  • Produce timely and actionable information which help drive business results and guide decision making process.
  • As guided by the supervisor, contribute to the development of business rules, guidelines, standard operating procedures, and other guidance materials based on the UN regulations and rules, international standards and recommended practices.
  • Provide support to the operationalization of Supply Chain management concepts, to the implementation of instructions on Supply Chain Self-assessment and performance reporting.
  • Contribute to the formulation of user requirements for IT systems in support of materials management and Supply Chain activities.
  • Contribute to the proper execution of functions carried out within the Unit/Section and assist with development of work plans and supervision of support staff.
  • Assist in the analysis and identification of requirements for capacity building and provide support for conducting training events.
  • Provide support to the gathering of requirements from various stakeholders and process owners to define specific business requirements for the end-to end Supply Chain performance management.
  • Contribute to the development and promulgation of Business Intelligence Guidance and Procedures and monitor specific aspects for compliance.
  • Ensure that daily activities are in compliance with the DOS Environmental and Waste Management policies and in line with the DOS Environmental Strategy objectives.
  • Perform other duties, as required.

Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Information Management, Business Administration, or related field is required. A first level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP)/United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P).

Job - Specific Qualification Certifications in Project Management (PRINCE2 or equivalent), Supply Chain (SCOR-P, CSCP or equivalent), Lean Six Sigma are desirable.

Work Experience A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in Supply Chain management, logistics, procurement or related area is required.

Experience working with Excel and Data Base Management (Access) is required.

Experience in Supply Chain performance management is desirable.

Experience in Bl, Power Bl and Structured Query Language (SQL) analysis tools is desirable.

Experience in development and implementing ERP Supply Chain management solutions is desirable.

Experience in sourcing, cleaning and preparing/integrating data, selecting and developing visualizations/metrics that enable easy communication/interpretation by the users is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
