Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

The position of Associate Safeguards Officer (Social) is assigned to the Office of Safeguards (OSFG). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

OSFG has the following four teams: (i) Policy and Technical Services, (ii) Regional Operations

Services 1, (iii) Regional Operations Services 2, and (iv) Private Sector/Pacific Operations

Services and you will be assigned to one of them depending on needs and candidates' qualifications and expertise.

You will report to the Director or designated International Staff and may oversee Administrative Staff.

Your Role

As an Associate Safeguards Officer (Social), you will provide technical support to (i) ensure that sovereign and non-sovereign projects under processing and implementation comply with ADB's indigenous peoples and involuntary resettlement safeguard requirements under the Safeguard Policy Statement (SPS), and other relevant social requirements such as the Gender and Development Policy, Social Protection Strategy, Access to Information Policy, as updated from time to time, and their respective operations manuals, related procedures and mandates; (ii) contribute to the interdepartmental discussions in the area of social safeguards, social development, social protection, gender and development, consultation and participation and engagement with civil society, and (iii) supports the enhancement of safeguards database systems and contribute to knowledge products and services for use by ADB's borrower and clients.
