- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in education, development studies, economics, sociology, social policy, or other related social science discipline.
- At least two years of professional experience as a researcher and/or analyst working on regional or global education issues.
- Experience with African education systems and specific regional challenges is an asset.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Good understanding of education policies.
- Ability to draft good quality content at an international report level.
- Ability to think critically and innovatively.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
- Ability to maintain effective collegial relations in a multi-cultural setting and to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent IT skills to carry out the work.
- Excellent knowledge of English.
- Good knowledge of French would be an asset.

Spotlight regional report on completion and foundational learning in Africa** • Support report development through quantitative and qualitative data analyses, drafting report sections, reviewing literature, and monitoring policies on foundational learning. • Support background paper commissioning and review process and contract management. • Support the Spotlight country research teams • Support report logistics, e.g. organizing meetings setting timelines, calculating budgets, etc. **2. Overall support to GEM Report products** • Contribute research and drafting to various products developed by GEM Report. • Contribute to product quality assurance process (e.g., fact-checking, referencing).
