It is the designated lead agency for producing the indicators needed to track global progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), while sharing responsibility for some targets with other agencies. The UIS is seeking to recruit a Project Manager (Events) to be based in Montreal. The incumbent would lead the work to manage UIS hosted or supported events ensuring administrative, logistic and communication arrangements. Events will include global and regional meetings such as the Technical Coordination Group, events related to survey launches and data releases, and UIS reports released. Long Description ---------------- **Main responsibilities and tasks** Under the overall authority of the UIS Director and direct supervision of the Communications Officer, the incumbent will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities: - Contribute to the drafting of events and partnerships strategy for UIS hosted Technical Groups, Regional meetings, Survey launches, data releases, UIS Data Digest and their associated products. - Develop and implement a timetable and workplan for the organization of UIS hosted and supported events, ensuring the administrative and logistic arrangements including those relating to visibility, branding, attendance, production of event materials, translation and interpretation, coordination with stakeholders, speakers, participants. - Work in coordination with partner events coordinator of key stakeholders to ensure successful and strategic launches of events including in key countries relevant to the content of the UIS events. - Contribute to the drafting of talking points and concept notes and prepare PowerPoint presentations and background briefs for UIS events. - Keep abreast of high-profile events relevant to the current and future themes of UIS. - Support the overall media outreach of UIS materials related to the event, identifying media spokespeople and drafting relevant Q&A and other press materials as required.
