While the strategy reflects UNESCO’s continued commitment to HIV, it also reflects the shift towards situating HIV within the framework of comprehensive sexuality education. Furthermore, UNESCO recognizes that the education sector cannot achieve better health and well-being alone and thus will also support education sector collaboration with other sectors and with the health sector in particular. UNESCO will engage political leaders and the Regional Economic Communities, especially Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) to sustain the response and provide a platform for collaboration and accountability. Long Description ---------------- Under the authority of the Regional Representative and Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa and the direct supervision of the Regional Advisor - Education for Health and Wellbeing for Eastern & Southern Africa, the incumbent is responsible for implementation, monitoring and reporting of programs/projects/activities related to UNESCO’s expanded work on Education for Health and Wellbeing in Malawi. S/he will support the in-country Project Officer in the implementation of the “Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future” (O3) Programme for Education for Health and Wellbeing in Malawi and represent the project office on UN Joint programmes and technical working groups at country level. More specifically, the incumbent will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities: - Support the Government of Malawi in the process of renewal and implementation of the ESA Ministerial Commitment on the provision of CSE and ASRH services to young people. - Work with the Ministries of Education and Health to support the Government of Malawi’s efforts to scale up comprehensive sexuality education using the revised International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education, developed by UNESCO with UNFPA, UNICEF, WHO and UNAIDS. - Support UNESCO’s efforts to facilitate delivery of high quality comprehensive sexuality education that is gender transformative, evidence–based, culturally and age appropriate as well as youth‐ friendly SRH services for learners, adolescents and young people (aged 10 ‐ 24) including those who are vulnerable such as YPLHIV and young people with disabilities. - Support and implement all activities related to the Early and Unintended Pregnancy campaign including the popularization of the revised Re-admission Policy. - Support the Ministry of Education and other line ministries in the development and delivery of comprehensive sexuality education curricula to ensure that they are evidence-based, gender transformative, age appropriate and culturally sensitive. - Support the development of a robust teacher education program on comprehensive sexuality education at in‐service and pre‐service level. Long Description ---------------- - Build capacity of Teachers’ Support Teams, Guidance and Counselling Teachers, and relevant structures within teacher training colleges towards the delivery of high quality CSE in classroom settings. - Working in partnership with Joint UN Team on AIDS and other partners, support the delivery of quality and age appropriate sexual reproductive health information and health services for adolescents and young people, including YPLHIV and those with disabilities in supported project sites. - Initiate the development of programs that enhance the Government of Malawi’s education sectors’ ability to protect children against school-related gender based violence (sexual violence & harassment in school settings). - Support development of activities to improve community and youth engagement in young people's access to comprehensive sexuality education & services. - Support the development of research, monitoring & evaluation around CSE/SRH for young people. - Support the monitoring, evaluation and reporting on UNESCO’s work on Education for Health and Wellbeing. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Communication (C) Accountability (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- ***Education*** - Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in education, social sciences, public health, or closely related fields. ***Work Experience*** - Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in the field of education, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, including CSE, HIV and AIDS programming of which preferably one year should have been acquired at the international level. - Experience in training, coordination and/or institutional and human capacity building. - Experience in monitoring and evaluation.
