It supports efforts to safeguard intangible cultural heritage, ensures respect for the intangible cultural heritage of the communities, groups and individuals concerned, and raises awareness of the importance of the intangible cultural heritage. The entity supports the governance mechanisms of the Convention, develops periodic reporting and the assessment of nominations to the listing mechanisms. It also administers the International Assistance mechanism of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund and monitors projects; designs and monitors global programmes, strategies and funding priorities; develops new knowledge and training content; organizes training; provides technical backstopping for policy development; builds and maintains partnerships; develops resource mobilization proposals. Under the overall authority of the Chief of the Living Heritage Entity, the general supervision of the Head of the Capacity Building Unit within that Entity, and under the direct supervision of the coordinator of the Periodic Reporting Mechanism of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Associate Project Officer shall contribute to the effective functioning of the 2003 Convention’s Capacity Building programme, as well as the Periodic Reporting mechanism. In particular, the incumbent will assist in: Long Description ---------------- - the roll-out of capacity building activities for periodic reporting, including the organization of capacity building for country focal points and regional training of trainers - the processing and the technical assessment of the periodic reports, which comprises the States Parties’ reports on their implementation of the 2003 Convention; - the regular updating of resources in English and French related to periodic reporting, including the guidance notes and Form ICH-10 in their different versions (Word and online), as well as the development of additional support material as necessary for the roll-out of the periodic reporting exercise; - the backstopping for the in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of the periodic reports; Long Description ---------------- - the preparation of briefings, contributions, reports, working or information documents in preparation of statutory meetings of the Convention; - the updating of relevant information and resources in the information and knowledge management system of the Entity; - the smooth communication flow with relevant stakeholders, including States Parties, Field Offices, Permanent Delegations, national counterparts, NGOs, experts, and colleagues within the Entity; - any additional supporting or coordination activities that may be required to ensure the effective implementation of the international cooperation mechanisms of the 2003 Convention. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- ***Education*** - Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in social sciences, international development, public policy, or assimilated. ***Work experience*** - At least 2 years of professional experience in report drafting, qualitative and quantitative data analysis in the field of culture, heritage or sustainable development, of which preferably 1 year acquired at international level. - Proven experience in gathering, organizing and analyzing information for producing high-level analytical reports.
