The objective of Component 2: Emergency Support for Cultural and Creative Industries Recovery, is to provide emergency support through grants to affected cultural entities and practitioners operating in targeted Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) for the development of cultural productions. This Component will finance, and technically support the rollout of cultural productions in neighbourhoods affected by the Port of Beirut explosion. The target is to provide grants to at least 65 non-for-profit organizations and to 85 individual cultural practitioners. Through a call of proposals, UNESCO will invite eligible beneficiaries to submit relevant proposals for the development and implantation of cultural productions. Cultural productions to be supported through grants will be selected based on a set of eligibility criteria through a formal procedure. Long Description ---------------- Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Beirut Office and the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist for Culture, the Associate Project Officer contributes to the overall implementation and coordination of the project. In particular, the Associate Project Officer shall undertake the following: - - Support the overall implementation and coordination of Component 2 - Coordinate the reception of proposals for cultural productions; Long Description ---------------- - Contribute to the technical evaluation of proposals and formulation of recommendations concerning each proposal based on: - the eligibility criteria; - the human and logistical resources needed to carry out a project or a cultural action; and - the proposed budget - In liaison with the relevant Service Providers - Support the preparation of the necessary documents for the meetings of the Grants Approval Committee – responsible for final funding decisions; - Coordinate the logistical preparations the Grants Approval Committee - Coordinate the logistical organization meetings and gatherings between the actors involved Long Description ---------------- - Maintain a database of proposals received and their status - Create and regularly update the calendar for all cultural productions funded by the BERYT project - Support the UNESCO Beirut Office and its service provider in the monitoring of the implementation of cultural productions - Draft progress and narrative reports (quarterly progress report for UN-Habitat) - Contribute to the preparation of and participate in the monthly coordination meetings with the UN-Habitat **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education:** - Advanced University degree (master or equivalent) in humanities or social sciences or a field related to cultural professions **Work Experience:** - At least 2 years of experience in project management preferably in the CCI Sector in general or one of its domains in private or not-for-profit organizations **Skills/Competencies:** - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team - Ability to prioritize, plan and organize own work in order to respect deadlines and achieve results - Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines - Excellent communication skills (drafting and oral). - Strong analytical skills - Strong sensitivity and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment - Understanding of development work in the context of crisis and conflict in particular and to be able to coordinate effectively in between multiple parties - Understanding of artistic production and/or cultural management including fieldwork - Good knowledge of standard office computer applications (MS Office, etc.). **Languages:** - Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Arabic, English, and French. **Additional Information** -------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
