S/He shall perform the following assistance and managerial services as follows: Long Description ---------------- - Establishment of the Prize’s workplan and roadmap for each edition. - Monitoring of the application and evaluation process by checking, analyzing and synthesizing all the received online applications as well as providing helpdesk to facilitate the candidates’ application process. - Organization of the jury meeting, including preparation all working documents and communication with the jury for the shortlisted entries. - Assistance in the organization of award ceremony including overall correspondence (e.g. memos, invitations, brochures, programme, speeches, story web and visual materials, award certificates), as well as travel and logistical arrangements for jury members and laureates, and contracts for services with suppliers. - Coordination of all aspects related the award ceremony with UNESCO Headquarters’ technical and central services. - Support to the Natural Sciences Sector Communication Officer by drafting and proposing a communication strategy for the Prize to promote its outreach, including the preparation of a wide range of communication materials such as leaflets, news articles, social media messages, press releases and website cards, videos, kakemonos, banners, posters, etc. - Assistance in the budget management, monitoring, and contribution to the preparation of the final report to the donor on the undertaken activities. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Planning and organizing (C) Communication (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- ***Education*** - Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in the relevant field of Basic Sciences or in a related natural sciences discipline and/or Project Management, and/or Administration. ***Work Experience*** - Minimum of 2 (two) years of experience in project management, event coordination, or administration, of which preferably 1 (one) year acquired at international level. - Relevant work experience in organizing international prizes. ***Skills and competencies*** - Excellent written and oral communication and strong interpersonal skills. - Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor own work plan; ability to work under tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adjust work schedules and priorities. - Ability to interact efficiently with a wide range of partners and stakeholders within and outside the Organization. - Demonstrated ability to work in a team and to maintain effective working relationships in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. - Competencies in organization and coordination, communication and attention to detail. - Good IT skills, including knowledge of standard office software. ***Languages*** - Excellent knowledge of English or French and good knowledge of the other language. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- ***Work Experience*** - Experience acquired in the United Nations System or in similar international organizations. - Demonstrated experience in planning and setting up scientific meetings and multi-stakeholders’ workshops. ***Skills and competencies*** - Familiarity with the work and general functioning of international organizations and/or the United Nations System. - Knowledge of United Nations work in the field of natural sciences and/or related fields. ***Languages*** - Knowledge of another official UNESCO language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish). **BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS** ----------------------------- UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc. The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 78 135 US $.
