You have:

- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications is required.

Contract

FAO’s Project Office in Sarajevo was established in 2014. All programmatic activities are led and implemented by two full-time staff members: National Programme Coordinator and National Administrative Assistant, with the support of a wide range of home-based International and National Consultants who are contracted on a project basis. From its inception FAO BiH operates under the overall management and operational and technical support of the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia in Budapest (REU). De Facto Head of the Office – Deputy Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, Regional Programme Specialist, Operations Specialist and all thematic technical officers extend their support to the Project Office remotely from Budapest and through regular field missions.
At the moment the programmatic portfolio is rapidly growing. In 2022 FAO diversified its base of international resource mobilization partners, as FAO was selected as the Delivery Partner for the projects funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Green Climate Fund (GCF), with another ongoing resource mobilization under GEF-8 replenishment window. The ongoing FAO donor-funded and core-funded projects positioned in the environmental dimension aim to strengthen national and local capacities in the land degradation neutrality (LDN), disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, UNCCD reporting and sustainable forestry management.
Under the direct supervision of the National Programme Coordinator, with technical supervision of the Regional Programme Specialist, and Operations Specialist , the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks to support the implementation of the projects positioned in the environmental sub-portfolio of the FAO Project Office in Sarajevo:
- Assist in the development of strategic, programme and policy documents, briefs, concept notes and project documents;
- Support the preparation, organization and running of the online, offline and hybrid meetings, workshops and events, including drafting the agenda, meeting minutes, presentations, briefs;
- Provide support for the coordination of work flow of project-level international and national consultants;
- Liaise with the FAO technical officers and other regional and national counterparts to collect and consolidate various inputs into the programming documents;
- Contribute to the collection and analysis of project-level monitoring data;
- Support the entry of monitoring data into the corporate reporting and internal data-bases and systems;
- Contribute to drafting of donor interim and final reports;
- Contribute to drafting of concept notes and project proposals for mobilization of donor resources;
- Assist in locally conducted procurement actions and market research;
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is in the process of becoming a member of the European Union. In 2022 the European Union awarded BiH with the candidate status. Sarajevo is the capital and the largest urban centre with an estimated population of around 340.000. There are two municipal entities – Sarajevo being the capital of the state and being located in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, while the other one being called East Sarajevo, which is located in the Republika Srpska entity - with no visible boundary between the two municipalities. The city is situated along the Miljacka river and surrounded by the four Olympic mountains of Trebević, Jahorina, Igman, Bjelašnica, as well as Treskavica and Romanija. The city is famous for its traditional religious diversity, with Islam, Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity being the three most dominant religions. During the winter months Sarajevo is subject to severe air pollution. Located in a basin surrounded by the Dinaric Alps, the city’s air fills with pollutants from the use of poor-quality fuels for household heating, old cars on the roads, nearby industry and temperature inversion that prevents the smog from dissipating. The skiing resorts of Jahorina and Bjelašnica, and the hiking destination of the Trebević mountain are within easy reach (30-40 minutes) from Sarajevo. The city of Neum and the seaside resorts of Croatia and Montenegro are 3-6 hours away from Sarajevo.
Good local banking facilities are available (use of credit cards, ATMs), however cash is still widely used. The railway and bus services are limited for domestic travel, as most people use their own private vehicles for travelling within the country. Accommodation is affordable, and it available in the private houses or apartments. Hotels facilities are adequate
