Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture and the direct supervision of the Chief of the Executive Office of the Culture Sector (Chief CLT/EO), the Associate Programme Coordinator supports the Culture Sector's knowledge management efforts, primarily through information gathering, dissemination and analysis functions, as well as review and quality control in line with the prevailing Medium-Term Strategy (C/4) and Programme and Budget (C/5) as well as the strategic priorities defined by ADG/CLT. In particular, the incumbent will: Long Description ---------------- - Manage the implementation of the Culture Sector's knowledge management system through the coordination and elaboration of strategic briefing documents (key messages, policy briefs, analytical documents), message delivery of senior management (speeches, articles, etc.), and the official correspondence of UNESCO in the field of culture, in line with the Medium-Term Strategy (C/4) and Programme and Budget (C/5). This involves ensuring the entire production process of quality, accurate and timely knowledge products in relevant thematic areas through the use of internal and external knowledge resources; coordinating and ensuring effective quality control on contributions from the relevant entities of the Culture Sector and central services; drafting substantive input; reviewing, editing and/or revising texts and documents, including sector-wide publications, in line with the Organization’s policies and procedures; researching, fact-checking and carrying out data-analysis. Long Description ---------------- - Ensure the development and production of knowledge management products (presentations, concept notes, analytical notes, etc.) in the framework of priority transversal areas, as defined by ADG/CLT, including UNESCO’s Global Priorities and priority groups. Promote awareness on related initiatives and activities as well as the transfer of knowledge and skills through effective coordination. - Identify, assess and recommend ways to create, share and utilize knowledge within the Sector at Headquarters and in the Field to 'institutionalize' knowledge management practices, with the goal of exchanging, organizing and making available quality data, documents and information; identify key knowledge products to be made available to strategic external stakeholders and determine the best way to capture and disseminate this information, which can sometimes be of a sensitive/political nature. - Document key messages, results and lessons learnt from strategic reviews, reports and research directly linked to the Culture Sector’s priority areas as well as good practices in other organizations emanating from generated evidence research, studies and surveys, in view of supporting the sustainability of the Sector’s knowledge management system.
